from what I saw. the women and her kids acted wrong. I feel the mother is and was wrong. she did not show her kids how to act. the cops did right. but knowing there are young kids in the car maybe shooting at tires would be better. but then again they may have flipped and been hurt. what is a cop to do? map
Who cares if he fired into the van, I would think he would be in more trouble having fired and not hit anything, he needs a whole lot more time on the gun range!
mother wrong. this is why kids can't function... parents don't know how to act. you did not do this 30-40 years ago without major jail time and in today's time pbj so government can say crime is down. Same crap in schools. It makes me sick how so people think in today's time.
Who cares. Obviously the officers are doing the community and society a favor for removing this trash before this vermin has a chance to cause real harm or reproduce. The officers should receive accommodation for their efforts to rid us of such trash. Thank God for real cops attempting to do a good job. And to 6:57, hopefully you'll get stopped soon and face the music for your sick and corrupt opinion of wishing harm to our heroes. It's obvious that you garner no respect for those who protect God believing, law abiding taxpaying citizens. Support this extermination and don't condemn it!! It's a start that's badly needed!
These officers are true heroes. The mother and her 14 y/o juvenile criminal son should have been shot on site once they resisted arrest, PERIOD. The officers demonstrated amazing restraint even when no quarter should have never been given. The blood of the children would have been on the piece of trash mother's hands. I guess her kids didn't mean that much to this piece of human garbage. The 14y/o needs a real good lesson so please Taser the little bastard in the groin and then water board him for about an hour.
Really 728? Pulling her over for the second time was overboard then she needed to defend herself, as well as her son. Thenjackass cop needs a time out, or a bullet. Sorry you feel your way.
Sad to see people miss the point. It was a traffic stop, everyone was wrong. Ok so she ran, over a traffic citation, so you shoot at the vehicle? She was not armed, neither were her children, so you shoot at the vehicle? She clearly handled it wrong, so you shoot at the vehicle? Do we even bother addressing the cop smashing out the back window, while the children are in the back seat? No we will just shoot at the vehicle.
It seems these days no matter what the offense cops just want to kill or electrocute someone. B.S. Let her go, suspend her license, and confiscate her plates when she stops. Really people, shooting to kill over 71 in a 55? You people that agree with these cops actions are sick.
usually I don't agree with how the cops conduct the majority of these stops, but this time they should have gone a lot further, dealing with trash like that. and yeah that cop needs training at the range! maybe Obama will weigh in on how if he had a son he would act like that 14 year old!
Kids ? WTF ? Didn't look like kids to me. These kids were assaulting an officer , they have the right to defend and protect. The lady , if that's what she is did a very bad thing. Wonder what would have happened if the black officer pulled her over? It's coming people , very soon!
Wonder why crime is so bad , well try this on for size. We have 3 officers engaged in a speeding violation , just because 1 stupid woman refused to obey our laws (reminds me of our president). I do believe the white officer did not do anything wrong. This is a standard way of transporting drugs with so called kids in a vehicle. These kids could have been armed , like most their age. Stupid is as stupid does , woman was wrong , what say you big Al Sharpton.
It was a simple speeding ticket, that everyone else would have just taken and complained about. When she drove off after being told to get out of the vehicle, everything that was about to happen was her responsibility entirely, not the cops The kid getting physically involved shows what dear old mom has instilled in her children, disrespect for authority i.e. the law. She'll really be upset in a few years when her children start off in life on their own private journeys into criminality and then jail. Like this video shows, she'll never accept any responsibility, nor will the children. The cops were in the right from the beginning to the end. The initial cop showed a lot of restraint She'll be telling her pitiful black sob story to some lawyer pretty soon.
Cops are supposed to deescalate the situation, not create a bigger problem over a speeding ticket.
Most police departments have strict rules about NOT firing at a moving vehicle.
That "punk" kid defended his mother, right or wrong, he was also unarmed.
If the cops had done their job and deescalated the situation, the kid would not have reacted.
When in fear and on a deserted stretch of road, you are not supposed to stop and drive to a populated area. She actually did the right thing and drove to the hotel. What was the cop going to do, arrest her and leave the kids sitting on the side of the road?
There are so many things wrong that happened here... the woman and the officer both over-reacted to the situation. The young boy responded to protect his mother. Uniform or not, law enforcement officer or not, that is what a young boy will do in response to what he perceived at the moment, in the heat of the moment. The mother should be charged and prosecuted, the officer definitely needs additional training.
9:37p.m., thank you for having the only sensible comment on here. Everyone else on here commented that the woman and her kids were trash, they should be shot, they should be eradicated. Wow. Just because you refuse to obey a lawful order does not mean you should be diminished from society. Goes to show you how many people in this area think they're above the rest of the population. Sorry to tell you, but by the mere chance, anyone of us, at anytime, could end up in the gutter. The woman's actions were wrong, but it does not constitute for an officer to shoot at the vehicle, or break out the window. It's a speeding ticket and fleeing and eluding. Guess what people, as soon as your tags are read, they know where you live. As for the fourteen year old, he's a child. My two year old would have been reaching for me, if somebody he didn't know was pulling me out of my vehicle. The police are supposed to assess the situation before they act. Bottom line: Wrong assessment, and there were other ways the situation could have been handled.

You obviously don't know what Cops are supposed to do. Once that kid got out of the van and attacked that cop the game was on. I would have deescalated the situation with a bullet between his eyes.
The women's actions may have led the police to think there was more to the story than speeding, like murder or kidnap. The police should have boxed her vehicle in after the second time they pulled her over, that way she could not speed off like she did twice.
I view the vehicle as a weapon and the police have the right to protect themselves.
This is what happens when you have a generation of soldiers/marines with PTSD coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with no life skills other than pointing guns at people. What else are they going to do for a living besides become cops?
Are you people serious? That woman broke the law, and then her actions and only her actions made it more serious. Her actions also made her appear guilty of something more serious... as for her son, he should be arrest for assault on a police officer and anything else they can throw at him. Quit making excuses for criminals!!! That is what is wrong with society today... people making excuses for degenerates!!
I guess my thoughts are pretty much inline with Former FBI assistant director John Miller, who says:
CBS News senior correspondent John Miller, a former FBI assistant director, said there are a few, “built-in” problems in this case. Miller continued: “There’s a few problems with the woman’s actions here. She’s a mom in a minivan with five kids. This is like the picture of a soccer mom. She’s getting a speeding ticket and not for going 100 miles an hour, it’s 71 in a 55. I don’t know anybody who is not doing 70 in a 55 today, but instead...she gets the summons. The cop wants her to pay it right there or go back to court and settle this now, and she drives off, so her first mistake is not dealing with it, and dealing with the officer right there, but driving away.” The mom deserves a fair amount of blame for a situation that she could have avoided, but for her actions, Miller said. However, the blame is not hers alone. “Then you get to the police officers, Miller said. “These are trained professionals. When he is smashing out that window with the baton, remembering this is a speeding ticket here. Rather than lose control of this incident, a trained officer is supposed to be slowing this down, not speeding it up, looking to say, ‘I’ve got five kids in the car, what’s at stake here? A speeding ticket. How do I de-escalate this?’ And one way to do that is call for backup and get better control of the situation, yet when they get there, it seems to have the opposite effect. ... Even when she flees, in this chase, she’s not fleeing to get away from the police, she goes straight to a hotel. She’s apparently looking for a populated area with people around because at this point she and her children are fearful of the officers. The case against the woman is likely to go nowhere in court, Miller said. She’s been released on $10,000 unsecured bond, and her son’s been released. However the case against the state police on the civil side probably has some legs here. “In many departments, it’s against policy to fire at a moving vehicle,” Miller said. “Now, the officer later said he was trying to shoot the tires out. The problem is, when you’re trying to shoot at a moving car, it’s inherently ineffective. You almost never stop the car, and it’s also dangerous. If you’re firing on a car with five children, you’re firing in the direction of two other officers who are in front of the car so, I think, for police, the biggest problem is going to be justifying the use of firearms in what is a traffic stop that’s spinning out of control.”
If you have any questions or comments, I suggest you direct them to Mr. Miller.
8:03 the 14 year old boy going after a cop, as close as he got he could of gone for the gun. i would say he is learning from his mother. he would of not got that close to me. after the big lawsuit with the police dept he will end up like rodney king if he is not locked up at 18. if obaba had a daughter. yea the cop should not have shot... bullets are to expense to shoot at a pile of trash that above the law
Annie, once contact with the van was made (twice I might add) it then becomes the police officer's responsibility. Based on the two previous unsuccessful attempts for compliance the cops had no choice but to use the force needed. IF that van were to hit and kill another vehicle and the occupants guess who's fault that would be? Any of you cop hating idiots should be grateful that this incident ended with no INNOCENT citizens being killed by the reckless disregard of the van operator and the passengers. Although the police officer's shooting appeared to have not hit anyone I do hope his intention was deadly force. And quite possibly because the operator was shot at she may have given thought to not extend the fleeing and eluding spree. You see Annie, you have to look beyond the immediate and obvious circumstances. Yes, you have to have some common sense to be a cop. Thank God you are not one!
Dear Annie , We didn't miss the point , it's at the top of your head. Being a law officer , we had every right to do what took place. As a matter of fact , some officers would have aimed at the people , as is was he was aiming at the tires .
1:36 seems to be a lot of "ifs" in your statement. You have no point, it was a traffic stop. Even an ex FBI dude said it was wrong. The cop did not follow protocol - you do not shoot at moving vehicles when it is FLEEING AWAY from you. Totally stupid comment you made. eluding spree? LOL what a moron. All they had to do was get in their vehicle and follow her. There were 3 cops, you gonna tell me one of them could not get in their car and follow her??? PERIOD. Shooting was not an option nor necessary. can you say baaahhh sheeple?
9:45, when they release the pictures of the bullet holes in the vehicle, then we will see what he was aiming at. otherwise you are simply speculating. hard to hit a tire when you are directly in back of the vehicle. you are a bad cop and need to go back to cops school.
Wait a minute has the rules changed? When we watched the video of the woman in DC a few months ago and they had her surrounded and we asked why they didn't just shoot out the tires they made excuses to why they didn't. Now they are saying they were justified in shooting out these tires. Come on you can't have it both ways.
Annie dear, 1:36 is completely point on. You, quite frankly, are the moron. I praise the Lord every night and day that people like you cannot qualify for police work.
9:46 That's the most hilarious statement to date. Yes you keep respecting those up standing cops that kill and injure people/pets, break the laws, abuse their authority and citizens, and do not uphold the constitution. Looks like you are the real moron. You keep on praying honey.
What I find even more amusing is that when I post as Anonymous you have nothing to say to me, but when I post under Annie the hits just keep on coming... oh dear, did I let a little secret out.. That's why you idiots are such a laugh riot!

Cop Hater
You are provoking and advocating more citizens kill cops. This was a van load of law breaking young thugs whose intent was on murdering those cops.
The taking over of America

get this garbage off the street the punk 14 year old will be in jail for life by the times he is 18
The MOTHER belongs in jail with her son and the cop that fired the shots needs to be suspended and re-trained for Excessive force. PERIOD.

If he used his taser like he was trained to the woman would have never had a chance to drive off the second time.

The cop trying to pull her out of the vehicle was not deescalating the situation.
10:14 - what? I never said that, what are you talking about?
7:57 AM Thank you
8:35 AM she was driving away, not much of a threat as a weapon against the cops.
