Nightmare Ends: Passengers Leave Disabled Ship

After five days without power in the Gulf of Mexico, the more than 4,200 people aboard the Carnival Triumph returned home to the U.S., with many of them telling their horror stories for the first time.

Passengers began to disembark the damaged ship around 10:15 p.m. CT Thursday in Mobile, Ala. The last passenger disembarked the ship at 1 a.m. local time, according to Carnival's Twitter handle.

Passenger Brandi Dorsett was thankful to be home, especially for her mother who was with her on the ship. Dorsett said she wasn't pleased with the doctor on staff.

"My mother is a diabetic and they would not even come to the room because she cannot walk the stairs to help her with insulin. She hasn't had insulin in three days," Dorsett said.

Not sure what's worse being on that ship or in Alabama.

In the words of Taylor Swift..."I am never ever ever" going on a cruise again.

You're an ass. And a poor one at that.

Alex if Alabama is that bad why don't you try Detroit for your next vacation. You would fit right in and have a wonderful time no doubt.

I have never thought of a cruise as a enjoyable vacation destination for all of the reasons this trip was so horrid. Confined to a single spot and not able to leave if things go wrong. I'm not certain who keeps check on how these vessels operate but one thing for certain...they didn't do a good job checking this one. Can you imagine how much soap and water it will take to get that ship sanitary? More and more cruise lines are becoming trapped spaces for disease and disaster. There are so many wonderful places to see and get out and walk...why would you want to sit back and be waited on hand and foot...oh that is right...America is the Fat Lands. On a good day...give me a game of tennis and a picnic.

Get a grip. Cruises are an excellent way to vacation. You can go for walks at any of the wonderful ports the ship docks at.

And adding up the expenses of travel, hotels, food, etc., cruises are very comparable and competitive, maybe even cheaper that some land modes of vacations.

Vacations are, by the very definition, escapes. People go on vacations to be 'waited on hand and foot'.

It's not a class thing. Anyone can go on a cruise if they have tickets.

Granted, this cruise was a nightmare for the passengers and crew, but it is an aberration not a common thing.

One can have the time of their life or be miserable. That's a personal decision based on one's mental stance and outlook.

You should go on one, I think you would change your mind.

If you didn't however, keep it to yourself and don't ruin other people's experience.

How can one persons experience ruin another persons outcome? As you said...Happiness is a choice!

While you try to nitpick, it becomes clear you are not worldly, in the least.

I don't have the time or the patience to debate nonsense, so I will leave it there.

Have an HAPPY DAY.
