Magnolia Man Charged With 4th Offense DUI In Dover Crash

Date of Occurrence: Thursday November 8, 2012 at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Resume:
Dover, DE- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a serious crash that occurred on South State Street early last evening.
The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. yesterday as Jason B. Swafford was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado southbound on South State Street approximately .1 mile north of Lebanon Road (SR10) when he crossed the center line into the northbound lane.  Lorri A. Buchman, who was operating a 1992 Mazda Protégé northbound on South State Street, was then struck head-on by the pick-up truck.
Buchman, who was properly restrained, was removed from the scene by EMS and initially transported to Kent General Hospital before being transferred up to Christiana Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Swafford was not injured in the crash and was taken into custody at the scene before being transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with Driving Under the Influence (4th Offense), Vehicular Assault 1st, and Failure to Remain in a Single Lane.  He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $9,001.00 cash only bond.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.  South State Street between SR10 and North Old Mill Road was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
