American Education Week In Wicomico County Public Schools Nov. 12-16

American Education Week will be celebrated Nov. 12-16 in Wicomico County Public Schools, with thousands of family members and friends expected to visit students in their classrooms.

During last year’s American Education Week, Wicomico schools hosted 15,000 visitors. Schools are again ready to welcome parents and guardians, other relatives, and friends whose names have been turned in on the Approved Visitor Form sent home for each student. This Approved Visitor list will allow schools to welcome visitors while also ensuring school safety and minimal distractions to the learning environment.

Please note that there are visitor criteria and procedures necessary to ensure that valuable instruction continues in our schools during American Education Week.  We are also requiring that all visitors adhere to the following guidelines:

All visitors must be over the age of 21 and provide photo identification. Unless otherwise notified that your child’s school will have babysitting services, please do not bring young children with you during your visit.
All visitors must check in at the front office before proceeding into the school
Please place cell phones on vibrate or silent. Persons using a cell phone in the school will be asked to leave.
Visitors may only visit in the classrooms of the student(s) for whom they have permission on the Approved Visitor Form.
Food and drink should not be brought into the school during classroom visitation.
Please remove hats and outside garments upon entering the school.
Upon leaving the building, please check out at the front office so that all schools are aware of what visitors are in the building at all times.

American Education Week is observed in communities annually for the purpose of informing the public of the accomplishments of our students and schools, and to garner parent involvement in the education of their children. Some of the many activities in our schools are listed below.
