A U.S. Airways flight got stuck in the tarmac at Reagan National airport Friday.
The intense heat of the day apparently softened the asphalt enough that the wheels sank into it.
The 35 passengers and three crew members on board had to get off so a tow vehicle could budge the jet out of its rut.

That is why you see concrete used where vehicles tend to sit for long periods of time or there is a large load (touchdown pads, deplaning areas, toll booths, etc,)
