Officer Texting While Driving

Do as I say, not as I do. A viewer sent this into me and it's only fair that I state, Police officers go through special multi tasking training and are exempt to such laws.

honestly, i think texting can be extremely dangerous while driving.
ESPECIALLY when you have both hands on the phone, your knee controlling the wheel, and NO eyes on the road.

i wish cops were more ademate about pulling people over for talking on the phone and texting. enforce the laws they put into play! its a smart one, and could save many lives.

You lowly people do not attempt to text while driving this highly skilled officer has been trained to do this along with eating donuts drinking coffee while sitting on his ass again please do not text while driving.

I think if you look close he is parked. The truck is going the other direction based on the way the wording looks. But I do know that cops do this all the time and its not right. You can talk and text in an emergency vehicle according to the law.

I should be surprised because why?! They can do whatever they want - they are ABOVE the LAW!! Please spare me the details and they put their pants on the same way that I do and my tax dollars pay for the phone and salaries!!

"Police officers go through special multi tasking training and are exempt to such laws."
Yeah right.

What a joke.

A one hour seminar.

Most I know can't chew gum and walk straight at the same time let alone drive within the laws they are sworn to uphold.

If you had examined the image, even though the truck is in motion, looking though the officers windows to the other side of the street (opposite side of moving truck) everything is stationary (not moving), as is the cop, as is the person taking the picture. The cop was parked.

The truck is moving from right to left. Notice the cut out for the drive wheels on trailer.

If the cop is parked, must be a very wide shoulder since another car is right beside him.

He could be sitting in a turn lane waiting to go when the light turns. Not exactly driving, as long as he puts it down when the light changes I dont see a problem...

Exempt, is the only thing that needs to be said. If you disagree then complaint to your legislators and get the laws changed.

Also, who said he is texting. He may be entering a location in his GPS enabled smart phone. Which is not illegal for anyone.

Who told you that?

The truck could be parked on the wrong side of the road and he didn't see it because he was texting

it's obvious the cars are parked. unless, this is england....

They go up and down by-pass 100 mph and stop stop you if they cant read your tag sticker or see a seat belt un fastened!

The cop isn't moving. It's not unsafe at the time this picture was taken.

Unless you want people to get tickets for texting while stopped, don't complain about the Sheriff.

What jurisdiction is this, anyway? Google suggests it's Ohio. For all we know, it's not illegal to text while stopped in that state. We have enough crap to worry about here, don't bring another jurisdiction into it.

If you notice on the door it says Zack Scott. He is a Sheriff in Ohio and YES it is illegal in Ohio to text and drive.

How many officers have wrecked into or killed someone while texting and driving? 0. How many teens have wrecked into or killed someone while texting and driving? Way too many. I think I have made my point. Find something else to moan and groan about.

Trooper123... what an irresponsible comment! It could happen rather it be an officer or teen. Last incident I remember involving a police killing someone was drinking and driving, I guess that ok with you too Trooper....
