Fallout After Md. Rules Pit Bulls a Vicious Breed

Dog lovers are sounding off about a Maryland Court of Appeals ruling that pit bulls are an inherently dangerous breed.

The Humane Society of the United States launched a campaign Wednesday seeking legislation to overturn the ruling.

The group says Maryland is the only state that officially regards pit bulls and pit bull-type dogs as categorically dangerous.

Maybe Maryland judges should have to run for election every 4 years like in many other states.

A judge is a law student who marks his own examination papers.

Police have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a mob attack by large numbers of black teenagers against a young white couple in a car, a case which has sparked national outrage.

As WND reported in a story posted on the popular Drudge Report, the couple was pummeled April 14 by dozens of black teens, and the Virginian-Pilot newspaper did not report the incident for two weeks, despite the fact the victims, Dave Forster and Marjon Rostami, are both news reporters for the paper.

Perhaps the court would wish to rule on this matter as well; I mean, it's so similar. Do we, as Marylanders really want to go back there?

Look at the Humane Society's web page at the puppies/dogs for adoption.Nothing BUT pit bull/pit bull mixes are available most of the time. it's hard to find a puppy that is any other breed!

HSUS, PETA, ASPCA have all endorsed breed specific mandatory spay/neuter.
If pit bull and pit bull types of dogs aren't as dangerous as alot claim then why fight this court's opionion which is only ever going to effect a small number of court cases? Fighting this ruling with legislation to overturn it is only going to open the door for stricter dog legislation.

So sad! What are they identifying as "Pit bulls"? American Pit bull Terriers, staffordshire bull terrier, American bulldogs? They all fall under the category of "Pit bull" and the general public is often ignorant of what a "pit Bull" really is. Sad to see that once again irresponsible owners are causing the downturn of a wonderful, faithful breed of dog.

Why are there so many pit bulls at the shelter? There's your sign.

3:46- Irresponsible owners.

Wouldn't trade my Pitt for any other dog. Had a Cocker Spaniel once that would rip your throat out given the chance though.

346-Because ignorant folk breed them, try to sell them, realize they won't get any $$$ for them, and get rid of them.

I adopted my "American bull dog" from the PG County SPCA. Kindest and friendliest dog I've ever had. Have had the next door neighbors grandkids(2-5 year olds) run up on him and he's gentle as can be.

Breed specific legislation is moronic. That's on par with race based legislation of the 1800s.
