Pavement & Rehabilitation Project in Sussex County Will Require Daytime Lane Restrictions

Beginning Monday, April 16

Lewes -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that a pavement and rehabilitation project will begin on Monday, April 16 for eight different sites in Sussex County. This project will consist of milling, hot-mix patching, paving, and curb ramp improvements to meet compliance regulations with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) at each location.

The first group of roads will have daytime intermittent lane and shoulder closures:

Monday, April 16 through Friday, May 11
Route 9/Kings Highway to Theodore Freeman Highway (Monday through Friday beginning at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.)

Monday, April 23 through Thursday, June 14
Indian Mission Road from Route 24 to Route 9 (Monday through Thursday beginning at 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.)

In mid-June, this second group of sites will be repaired. Daytime lane restrictions will be in effect for this work, as well.

Hollyville Road from Harmons Hill Road to Route 9
Park Avenue To Route 18/Lewes-Georgetown Highway
Sussex Pines Road from Zoar Road to Wood Branch Road
Springfield Road from Park Avenue to Gravel Hill Road
Zoar Road from South Bedford Street to Wood Branch Road
Omar Road from Powell Farm Road to Honolulu Road

George & Lynch of Dover, Delaware, is the contractor for this $8.2 million project. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September, pending weather.

Access to all businesses and residences within the project limit will be maintained throughout the duration of this contract.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and expect delays.
