2012 Legislative Session Wrap-Up
This Session was unlike any other. From the beginning of January the O'Malley-Brown Administration seemed to have rolled out a new tax every week, they challenged traditional marriage, passed untested and expensive energy initiatives, took planning authority away from the Counties, attempted to shift unfunded pensions onto local government and increased spending by over $1 Billion. As with all things, it is not all bad news. The House of Delegates successfully stopped the increase in hunting fees, celebrated the success of Kevin Plank, owner of Under Armour, brought more accountability to Baltimore County's Revenue Authority, and we got closer than ever to passing a hybrid Baltimore County School Board.
