George Zimmerman Makes Brief Court Appearance

Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who is facing second-degree murder charges in the death of an unarmed black teen, appeared Thursday in front of a Florida judge where he was told that his formal arraignment will take place on May 29.

Zimmerman, wearing a dark grey sweatshirt, was at the brief procedural appearance with his attorney Mark O'Mara and said "Yes, sir" when asked by the judge if O'Mara is his lawyer.

Florida special prosecutor announced Wednesday that she concluded that claims of self defense were not supported in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Special prosecutor Angela Corey's announcement marked a turning point in the high-profile case, as weeks of outrage and speculation about Zimmerman's motives culminated in his arrest -- something that Martin's family and their supporters have argued for since the Feb. 26 shooting in a gated community in Sanford, Fla.

Now we'll have to go through jury selection. The whole world will be waiting with baited breath to see the ratio of black vs white jurors. The pressure on Angela Corey must have been intense.Had she decided otherwise her life would have been in danger. If I was chosen to be on the jury I'd leave the country. Can you imagine the badgering and threats they will encounter? If for some unknown reason Zimm gets off on this his best bet would be to leave the country. He would fit in perfectly south of the border.

This is going to be another OJ trial, except in reverse.

OJ slaughtered two people and got off not guilty of premeditated murder.

Where was Al Sharpton and the outrage? I'm sure he was giving OJ a standing ovation where ever he was on judgement day.

Karma, he's where he belongs now, in prison.

The charges were more likely to be politically motivated 3:13. More so than media pressure. Does anyone know when Angela Corey is up for election or appointment? She is probably just covering her butt and otherwise would not have even brought charges forth.

Hispanics are not allowed to defend themselves.

Personally I'm glad to see this charge vs a manslaughter charge. Be easier for him to beat this one. You could convict a grandmother of manslaughter.

If blacks would ever understand that we have constitutional law here and not tribal law, they might be better off.

And so would everyone else I'm sure.

FREE HIM it was an tragic accident that Zimmerman will never forget...this whole case is creating division in our country!!! Even Trayvon's mother said it was an accident then of course she took it back but they were both wrong...Zimmerman will have enough on his mind just living with what happened...taxpayers shouldn't have to fit the bill to keep him alive...let him get a job and be productive...

The division was already there, the Zimmerman case is the fuse, who will strike the match?
