Maybe Your New TV Is Watching You

It's the entire point, really. New smart TVs from Samsung boast video cameras with facial-recognition software and microphones with speech-recognition software. They can tell who's in the room, understand spoken commands, and be controlled with gestures. That's great news for those of us who can never find the remote, but made our friends over at HD Guru wonder: is there anyone behind that camera watching us back?

I always wondered about that.

Of course there is... the CIA has already admitted that. The FBI admitted a few years ago that it can turn your phone on and use it as a listening device. The Secret Service has admitted it scours the entire internet for keywords (remember the schoolkid in Colorado who got a vist - and interrogation - from the Secret Service for posting "obama better watch out for terrorists" after Bin Laden was killed?). The NSA admitted it monitors ALL international communications. This is not "tin foil hat" stuff. This is documented statements from our own government officials. Hello, Big Brother.
