Maryland's Flush Tax Bill Officially Filed - Significant Tax Increases Especially for City Residents

Today - HB-446 was sponsored - commonly referred to as Maryland's Flush Tax. The legislation imposes a signficant increase - (100%) - for individual septic systems and for the city dwellers - well look out - because the cost basis is based on your water consumption. It is based on .09 cents per 1000 gallons of water usage per month for the 1st 2000 gallons - and then it goes to $1.25 per 1000 gallons that exceeds 2000 gallons per month.

By now - most Marylanders should be aware that this what your government does - first passes the tax - then - it increases it exponentially each and every year. The bottom line is - there is an elite group of people who believe that they know how to make your decisions for you as opposed to allowing yourself to make the choice.
Please take note of the official sponsors of this Bill and you will come to recognize these individuals as being the most liberal of the left wing of the Democratic party. And lets not forget that the Republicans are also partially to blame to as they also had a hand in this new tax.

When will this insanity end!

Is there no end in sight for more taxes and tax increases? I thought that the democratic party was suppose to be for the working man. As for me - I have had enough of the democratic party. They can go right straight to h . . .ll. If I can change my registration and still be eligible to vote in the upcoming election - it is a done deal. I'm resigning myself from the democratic socialist part.

My god this cannot be for real. Doubling and even tripling the flush tax. Who are these imbeciles that are proposing this massacre.

Beez....you could go even further as you extrapolate this. Then they will outlaw septics and give out grants to local and county governments to create public waste water treatment plants to get EVERYONE on the public system. Then they will collect the major fees from EVERY home in the county and state. Can you imagine the money the state will rake in then in the name of "save the bay"? It's all a big smoke and mirrors show. But it's whatever.

I looked up all of the sponsors and they are all Democrats. Most all of them are from Baltimore City, Baltimore Co., and Montgomery Co.

I'm with you 9:58, I'm also changing my party ASAP.

Why aren't we hearing from Republicans and citizens about how the Dems took $25 million from this fund last year? The fund is only "broke" because O'Malley stole $25 million from it to pay for his precious western shore collector road. This is a fact.

In all the years that I have been a home owner I have never once saw rain water cause my septic system to overflow and release my raw sewage into the river then onto the bay. Can the sewage treatment plants say the same? I think not. I will take my system over theirs any day

I'll tell you who is the peoples enemy. It is our Maryland Legislature. They are a bunch of snakes in the grass and if you take your eye off of them they'll bite you. We have all been snake bit.

I think the Matyland legislature is going for the record here.Every day this week so far we have heard about a new tax or fee hike.At least they are consistent.

You hit the nail on the head with that observation. Every channel I turn to it talks about new tax here, increased tax there, higher fees, tags, you name it.
