22 Senators Propose Lockbox For Transportation Funds

After Gov. Martin O’Malley proposed a 6% sales tax on gas to pay for infrastructure projects, Sen. Rob Garagiola and 21 other senators moved to make the tax more salable with a proposed constitutional amendment to safeguard the Maryland Transportation Trust Fund, which governors have repeatedly raided to balance the general fund budget.

I propose a lock box on ALL funds. Each one is collected for it' own intended purpose. Lock one; he'll just steal from the others more.
I would be willing to bet that there's already a law on the books prohibiting this and he just doesn't care.

This is embarrassing. We now have to treat our governer like a 10 year old.

It will never happen. The box would only remain locked until the outrage subsided. After that, it would go back to business as usual. The problem is not revenue-it is spending.
