I must say, I'm disappointed in Pohanka. The only reason they got my business on a new Honda 3 years ago was that a manager called me back on my complaint about the lousy salesperson. They paid for my business, going well under Edmunds current pricing.

Lately, the same salesperson has called me 3x. They forget that they spoke with me twice. The script is that they have customers who want to buy my used car, and that I can get a new car for the same monthly payment.

I did the math out of curiosity one day. Given that I have about $7k in equity on my current car, and I could get Honda financing for .9% (vs 4.9%, which was prime when I did my last deal), taking the same payment would mean buying a new car at about 33% over sticker! This assumes I got actual a trade-in value similar to what is listed online.

On calls 2 and 3, I asked the salesperson to stop throwing out that sucker offer. On call 3, I challenged the salesperson to match truecar.com pricing on a possible new car. Both times, the salesperson promised to call me back after they "spoke to the manager." There has never been any follow up.

I am so sorry that our salerep called more than once not realizing it.
We have a software program that alerts us when people in our data base with equity in
their cars matches with another client looking for a similar car. It allows us to contact them
and let them know we have someone interested in their car and could possibly trade out for
the same or less than what they are paying now.
It isn't a trick or anything special. Just simple math and matching of data.
As far as True car pricing. I would match pricing anytime if the car is available.
Please contact me directly with any concerns regarding Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury.
Thanks
