PRMC Layoff Announcement

Let's see who gets it closest. Sources have stated there will be yet another big layoff at PRMC tomorrow. While employees have been begging to stop leaving them hanging and let them know if they do or don't have a job, many will get a pink slip tomorrow. What time do YOU think it will happen and how many people do you think will get laid off?

Obamacare time at it's finest moment, so far. It's going to get a lot worse unless the Republicans unite and kill the funding for Obamacare.

Anonymous said...

I will go to AGH. Maybe they can offer employment to some of the fallout from PRMC. So Sad that they make top ratings and let people go all within the same 6 months.

Anonymous said...

Hows that Hope and Change working out? I wonder how many PGH employees voted for our incompetent President.

Anonymous said...

Not to worry..There will be all kinds of illegal immigrants to fill these jobs and they won't require health insurance or competitive pay...Congratulations to those who voted for this clown President...you got what you asked for...and then some

Anonymous said...

Why are they discharging their most experienced people? Not a good omen for continued excellent patient care!! Maybe money is more important than their primary mission.

Anonymous said...

the ones that voted for Obama should be the first ones laid off .

The third floor will soon become the "Obama Death Chamber" enjoy you libtards.

Lay OFF the Upper MANAGMENT.

Have the leaders of this community considered the impact of these lay-offs on Salisbury/Wicomico's already poor economy. Or is Ricky P and the dysfunctional council sitting on their hands while PRMC slashes and burns??? AND...what about the huge campus the Board of Trustees and Foundation begged the community to fund - how much of that will end up vacant. Your hard earned money is circling the drain.

Stand by - the next move is that Hopkins or University will buy PRMC and roll it into their system. Can't wait and can't happen too soon - more professional leadership is on the way!! And better health care too.

Layoffs and closings of specialty units within hospitals is becoming the norm. It's 100% due to obamacare. The cuts to Medicare are a main reason though there are more.
obamacare is not workable-period.
It was rushed though and not thought out and crafted properly.

Anonymous said...

This has nothing to do with Obama. This is about a group of people who decided to go up against this hospital by making their complaints on the blog. PRMC knows how to shut people up. Fire/layoff a fee and hire puppets. I bet the current and new employees will stop complaining about PRMC. PRMC is a money making organization for the top dog executives and trusty's. This hospital does not care for the have nots.

Wonder how much that big ad in Sunday's rag set them back?

Anonymous said...

Hate to tell you, but this has zero to do with Obamacare.

This has to do with Boss Hogg and Sheriff Roscoe Lunsford and their flatulent inability to understand the nature of the healthcare market or lead people.

Healthcare is cyclical, and as anyone will you... there were a lot of "fat" years under previous presidents and boards who invested well, spent well, and led well.

That ended when Naleppa's daughter rope-a-doped the board into thinking she was about to bail and leave, and they accelerated the succession plan for Newberry.

And now you are left with a shell of a hospital run by a group of "see ya next tuesdays" who couldn't plan a fart after a mexican lunch.

This is all about the executive staff and the hostile environment they have created at the behest and direction of one woman, empowered by a pusillanimous and unaccountable board.

Anonymous said...

As a patient at PRMC Women's Wellness and Gynecology I will now be without my GYN care because they're shutting them down!

Funny you don't see the vice-presidents with mile long titles getting the axe.Only those who do the work.Or for that matter Peggy's son-in-law, who has a no show job, does nothing for 40 hours a week, could not deliver flowers for a living and wil probably have the same golden parachute as Alan "do nothing for my pay" Newberry. How come no layoffs at Atlantic General? Better management, less bosses there?

Anonymous said...

I agree with comments above that this is not about Obama. How many other hospitals of this size are in such a dire financial crisis? Poor planning and skimming the cream from the citizens of the area who were duped into continuing to support what was once a "beloved" local hospital is the problem. In a word - GREED - by those in charge. And the Board of Trustees - should be renamed Board of Enablers. Disgusting....

Anonymous said...

11:55 & 12:03 - If this has nothing to do with Obamacare then why is this happening in most hospitals throughout the US of A? Not only are hospitals laying off staff, some are closing - know of two in NC - and folks who have pursed degrees in medical specialties (for six years or more) and are now ready to graduate and can't find jobs, and the number of doctors considering abandoning their practices is at an all time high. The ACA insures 30 million more by paying doctors and hospitals less money for the same services while increasing the workload.

Anonymous said...

You can't blame Obamacare,it's not here yet Just piss poor management.Look at AGH!

Anonymous said...

I would like to see what the executive staff is giving up.

Anonymous said...

Corporations usually announce bad news on Fridays. I will take a guess at 50 people announced around 3:00 p.m.

This is a real shame for people losing their jobs in this poor economy. If the hospital had such stellar leadership as they tout themselves, they would have taken steps early on to stem this from happening.

PRMC has turned itself into a ghetto hospital and doesn't offer much in the form of excellent paitent care.

Anonymous said...

How about a comment from the CEO. Unless he lives in a cave, he views SBY News. And to those who think this has nothing to do with Obamacare you had better get your head out of your arsh. It has everything to do with Obamacare.

Anonymous said...

They laid it on the line for the folks who got offered a early retirement package. YOU WILL be gone by November 1st. If they dont take the package no guarantee of a job.
Also giving lump sum all in this year so most will be eaten up by taxes.Staff will be bare bones.

Anonymous said...

Why dosen't some of the executive staff donate a portion of their overbown salaries to keep working staff employed.

Anonymous said...

11:50 - they stood by and watched when Perdue had their layoffs a couple of years ago.

Although the area was already on the downhill side - that was like strapping a rocket on.....

Anonymous said...

Just got a letter with pay stub..mandatory flu shots for all. What happens if u refuse?

Anonymous said...

hope one of the big hospital systems gobbles them up. University or Hopkins would do a superior job in health care and administration. The Board of Trustees and Naleppa herself say her compensation is in line with other administrators...well, I wonder if these other administrators have done as poor of a job of maintaining hospital image, patient satisfaction, staff relations and financial management? In the corporate world, the CEO would be fired for such poor performance.

It has everything to do with Obamacare. Insurance rates already went up plenty in anticipation of cuts. They want to make their $$ now. Why can't Congress impeach him???

I am sure the layoff noticess will be rolling. There's only so much security to prevent a scene in a working hospital.

Anonymous said...

This site is blocked within the hospital so the staff is unable to read it during the day, unless they have a smart phone or other personal device. Well thats not exactly true, the higher ups have open access and can read it, and they do indeed. How ya like that censorship. "You cant read it, but we can. No worries children, we know whats best for you." What country does that sound like to you? The hospital is trimming "fat" in all the wrong places... and most of the employees know it.
Lets see if they tell the people they lay off before they give out the press release this time.

Anonymous said...

I heard from an inside source that you ain't seen nothing yet! The number of layoffs will be in the 200 range.

Anonymous said...

Get out from under the rocks you all are under! This has everything to do with obamacare specifically cuts to Medicare. There are no if's and's or but's about it.
What is going on at PRMC is going on in hospitals nationwide-NATIONWIDE-You Got It!
Read the Letter to the Editor in today's DT's by a PRMC doctor.
Obamacare is a complete and utter failure and what's going on at PRMC and other hospitals is a direct result.
And 11:55- PRMC has no clue who has ever commented on this blog unless someone confessed. Only someone who is computer illiterate would think that they do.

Anonymous said...

11:50 Wouldn't that be wonderful!! Hopkins comes in and takes over and we all get a quality hospital with good business sense.

12:47 "Look at AGH?" Are you aware that AGH is just a small community hospital not capable of delivering babies nor do they have a trauma center? They don't have nearly the diagnostics as PRMC and aren't capable of handling a lot of medical emergencies, illnesses and surgeries. Quite a few patients are transferred to PRMC after stabilization or on occasion taken directly to PRMC.

Anonymous said...

I have a family member that works there and it is absolutely Obamacare causing this.

Anonymous said...

5:54- You must be part of the hierarchy ay PRMC. Trauma center-you must be kidding.Let me tell you my PRMC trauma horror tale. Several years ago my significant other was hit on their motorcycle by a drunk driver in OC.The medic crew wanted to fly to Shock Trauma in Baltimore due to an obvious femur fracture and other ortho. issues. In order to fly they had to consult with PRMC.PRMC ER doc said don't fly, send him here by ambo. Got to Salisbury and had to wait for the "trauma" surgeon to come from home. Then had to wait for the orthopedic doctor to come as he was on call, but it was not a physician but an orthopedic Physicians Assisant who stated that the injuries were too complex for the orthopedic doctor on call and that the patient would need to be transferred to Shock Trauma or Hopkins. By then it was raining and the helicopter would not fly and my partner had to endure another ambulance ride of 2 hours.Trauma center my A__.I might add that I am a retired trauma CRNP from Baltimore. By the way we refused to pay the medical bills from PRMC and am considering litigation. If you get hurt drive yourself across the bridge.

Anonymous said...

Obamacare was a way that Obama could turn America into a Socialist country. Everything is going just right for his plan. After taking the time to read the legislation 2 years ago, I made a statement that Obamacare will be the biggest job killer our Country has ever seen. How do you like your Hope and Change now. All PRMC employees that voted for Obama, you got what you deserve. If you voted for Obama I do not feel sorry for you loosing your job. Now you can go on section 8 housing, welfare, and food stamps.

Anonymous said...

11:00 and 1:12-- wish I could agree but 5:42 is much closer -- it will be at least 150-200 and will not be announced til next week at the earliest.

11:50 -- Great point. Always amazes me how an organization that insists on being treated with all the respect of a big corporation (which it is) unabashedly pleads for charity contributions (to which its undeserved 501c3 status entitles it) when it is making many millions on the bottom line (or did so in the past).

12:30 -- previous leadership was indeed actually quite strong. Alan Newberry is a southern gentleman and led PRMC during some of its most successful years. A genuine and authentically nice and competent guy.

12:39 -- this is happening to most hospitals ??? Which ones ???

5:54 -- Hardly even want to dignify your nonsense with a response, CRNP or no. I am sure Baltimore has plenty of room for you. If there is one thing about PRMC that is still incredibly strong and needed -- it is the trauma program.

Everyone says they have inside info. Could care less whether you believe mine is or is not.

Anonymous said...

5:50. Hopkins has had plenty of layoffs in the past too.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 5:54

No one can deny that PRMC has far greater resources; it is a much larger institution. But resources and size do not an institution make. AGH is just a community hospital but they understand what it means to provide the best care possible for their patients. What they do they do well. Given the choice I would always go to AGH over PRMC. If there was something serious beyond the capabilities of a community hospital I would skip PRMC completely and go directly to Baltimore. Some of the doctors and staff at PRMC just don't have what it takes or simply don't care about their patients. There are good staff there of course but who wants to take a chance?

Can they legally make an employee get a flu shot? I mean it is your body & you should have control over what is put in it (or not).

Anonymous said...

The reason any business exists is to make money. Some (Low information Liberal types) may not like it but it is a fact. PRMC is doing what all companies do when revenue declines. They know where adjust and maintain operation. Anyone with a minimum amount of grey matter should be able to figure that out. They're trying to survive this disastrous Obama nightmare that exists right now. I also agree with the other comments. I hope the ones being dismissed are the ones who voted for Obama because if they did they're too stupid to be in health care anyway!

Anonymous said...

So really - what's up with the flu shot? Can they really make us get one? Is that legal? I heard Tim Fiest is getting the ax too - that's a shame.

Anonymous said...

8:21-You are correct.Just saw within the past week that Hopkins was closing down something and 60 more layoffs were to occur. Evidently since 2009 they've had a hiring freeze and layoffs have occurred yearly since then.
Reason given-expected decrease in medicare which for those who aren't in denial and refuse to except the truth is due to obamacare and obamacare only.

Anonymous said...

6:46-I'm not the previous commenter nor am I any part of any hospital hierarchy or otherwise. You mentioned having to wait for the trauma surgeon to come from home. You are aware this is not at all unusual? My good friends live next door to a U of MD trauma surgeon in a county neighboring Baltimore City. They hear him race out of his home several times a week in the middle of the night to make the drive to the hospital to perform emergency surgery.

Anonymous said...

I've said it before. "If you think health care is expensive now, wait till it's free". Thousands and thousands more people on unemployment, food stamps, and welfare. Obamacare is killing employment and health care and must be repealed.

Anonymous said...

6:46-As a supposed "retired trauma CRNP from Baltimore" you should be well aware that a "medic crew" doesn't make the call to fly a patient to Shock Trauma or any other specialty center in or out of state. The transfer has to be first initiated by the referring hospital (in this instance PRMC) after it is determined that the patient meets certain guidelines which aren't always apparent until an assessment occurs. Then the receiving center (Shock Trauma) must accept the patient. Mode of transfer is considered by both the referral and the receiving centers with the receiving center having the final say. It is they who if helicopter is the chosen mode will arrange if by ambulance either can make the arrangements.

So were there any layoffs today?

It's really a shame that things have come to this at PRMC, maybe Aunt Peg could cut her salaray a little bit...I mean she is really making 800K a year?! She isn't going to have any problem with her retirement account unlike all the people she is canning! All Aunt Peg does it put "yes-Men and women" in positions of authority! Like with the Respiratory department, they had a great leader and a man who fought for better things for that department but of course he went against the grain and they didn't like it. So now they have a very nice man in as head of the department but he is just biding his time until retirement and does nothing, every therapist in that hospital is unhappy and if it were possible would find different jobs. Every nurse there is unhappy, everyone is overworked and it's only going to get worse! Aunt Peg doesn't care about the employees, she is trying to spread her arms all over Salisbury and do a silent takeover. She is even going as far as to try and tell patients where they should get their medical equipment they have ordered upon discharge, FYI people of Salisbury, PRMC owns part of American Homepatient. She is doing this by "urging" the doctors and NP's at PRMC to refer their patients there and if they don't they have to fill out EXTRA paperwork as to why they sent them where they did! Excuse me Aunt Peg but we as patients has the right to choose where we get our equipment and medical supplies from!!! Keep your heffer nose out of it!! Oh and please get a different stylist because your hair and clothes are seriously dated!

Yes, 6:46-it's all about logistics and coordination when it comes to someone being transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. We learned that several years ago when a relative sustained a severe chest injury that affected the lungs. This was about 2 hrs from Baltimore and they were first taken to a local hospital and were stabilized after some kind of surgery. They knew this person had to get to a hospital with a pulmonary critical care unit and there was U of MD and 2 other out of state hospitals. All this was happening in the very early morning after an iffy night not knowing if the person would even make it. By noon the next day they had arranged something at U of Md. You are on a waiting list since bed space is limited at these places so they just don't indiscriminately send you there.
Family members started to Baltimore early afternoon but patient wasn't able to be helicoptered to Baltimore until after 7 that evening when they thought they would have a break in the helipad and when the surgeons thought they would have a break to immediately begin surgery and a bed in the unit. It was so amazing to watch the perfect coordination going on.
It was explained to us that anything could change depending on what emergency arrived at Shock Trauma just before the helicopter arrived because they don't have unlimited trauma teams nor surgeons at that or any hospital.

On a side note insurance auditors were set up on folding tables going over patients files with a nurse to make sure they weren't being billed or some useless procedure going on that they would be billed for. From what I understand that is normal for those specialized department such as pulmonary critical care which run a minimum of $10,000 a day and this was 10 or so years ago.

Lay-offs will be this weekend. They decided to do it over the weekend instead of Friday afternoon. Why? My guess is that it allows them to avoid the bad press from the last go around.

People who thought they safe leaving Friday afternoon will either get a call/email... or find out on Monday when their desk has been cleared and their passwords no longer work for the computer they use. Storm is still here, just moved a day or two.

Anonymous said...

903... It's not just Monday morning. It will be over the next 2 weeks. I just want it over with to know whether I have a job or not. Why prolong it, just do it.

By the way,
Tim Feist was not let go!!

Anonymous said...

11:25 -- If they are doing it over the next 2 weeks -- how do you know Feist won't be let go? Whether it is him or not -- PRMC senior leadership is seriously top heavy, and their credibility would be enhanced if they eliminate at least 1-2 positions reporting to either Peggy or Cindy.

Anonymous said...

Tim should stay. Peggy or Cindy should go. And how many VP's does one institution need? Get rid of a few of them as well. And I feel embarrassed for the Guererri's- all that money donated to the Heart Center, and it is falling apart. Barely enough employees to run the Cath and EP labs, as people are leaving due to poor working conditions. Supposedly, the two areas have combined to be one unit, yet EP employees do not have to take call. Hmmmm. How is that fair? Cath Lab employees are tired and just plain worn out! Stay until cases are done, and then be on call all night AND work the following day. Very unsafe work practices going on. Not to mention some of these folks are on call 15 out of 30 days!

Anonymous said...

1228 I was just saying as of Friday he was still there. Rumor was he was let go last week

Anonymous said...

I think all the employees who have had or having known affairs should be the first to go. They are the ones "stealing" from the hospital because they are meeting on work time. They think they can get away with it because they are salaried employees. As far as salary employees, this really needs to be looked at. I can tell you my boss doesn't even put in enough hours, but yet makes bank!!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 3:06

I agree!

However if they really made the employees who are having affairs leave PRMC there would be quite an exodus! You would see doctors, radiologists, ER nurses, surgeons, and even department heads! Many of the staff have been witnesses to some really bad behavior. When it comes to this issue management doesn't have the leadership skills or integrity to deal with it; they only want to cover it up. And some of those on this list would have to leave twice because they had more than one affair at the hospital!

Anonymous said...

Amen! It's the people you least expect including HR manager and his so called princess. She walks around like everyone doesn't know. How can he discipline others, when he's having an affair with her and breaking the rules?

Daily Times employment opportunities in today's paper (Sunday) --BeeBe has open house 9/23 with $3,000 sign-on bonus & AGH has on site interviews 9/24 for MULTIPLE RN positions available. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong at PRMC - proves Too TOP heavy for WAY TOO LONG - but go ahead cut the underdogs at least 100 of them - make those that remain work twice as hard- it will "all work out" - so the TOP can continue to get fat.

Anonymous said...

Someone in the DT's tried to say the cuts to Medicare named in obamacare were aimed specifically at waste, fraud and abuse.
This person is unequivocally wrong. The person is either grossly ill informed, has fallen for the propaganda or are intentionally spreading false and misleading info.
They are across-the-board changes in Medicare payment formulas for a variety of Medicare providers, including hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and hospice agencies. In other words no longer will a provider get Medicare for this or that service or will be reimbursed less for a service.

Anonymous said...

I hate Obama's socialism and I hate Obamacare because No one knows anything about any of it - but - before you blame all of this on Obamacare Did you know PRMC got $2mill from the gov't (or well us hardworking people - what few of us that are left) - BECAUSE we "followed the rules" and MDs get $$ for following the rules to. Face it. We got enough to pay for 2 more years of PigPeg. That's where the $$ goes. Oh yeah - getting ready to start stage 2 for more $$$ then there's a stage 3 for more $$$ Lookup "meaningful use"

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 9:29

There is virtually no chance of discipline for any bad behavior by ranking members of the staff. Remember this is a hospital where the chief of Thoracic Surgery was caught having sex in the ER and there was no disciplinary action, and as you say, HR manager has his "princess". Senior management does not care about anything done by the doctors or managers (even if it is "done" on hospital grounds) as long as every thing is kept quiet from the public to protect their precious image (though it has taken a beating lately) and the money keeps coming in. It is a shame that all these people who break the rules are allowed to keep their jobs and so many hard working employees who follow the rules are asked to leave. It makes for really bad work conditions when employees are not treated equally and rules apply only to some and not to others.

Anonymous said...

8:34. I agree with everything that you said!

Anonymous said...

Just do the math. 8% of 3000 employees is about 240 people. Friday at the hospital was so quiet, truly the calm before the storm

No wonder the care is so bad at this hospital. Sounds like they are either having an affair in a surgical area or worried when their next paycheck will be their last. So Sad!

I'm sure there is much that is upside down and needs to be addressed. As this all unfolds over the next couple of weeks however I would ask everyone's thoughts and prayers would be with those good people whose jobs are in jeopardy. They need our support not our criticism. This must be unbelieveably stressful on so many families who do not know what tomorrow will hold; People that have young children, people helping to care for aging parents, people trying to pay for college, and people trying to keep the electric on. People that just want to work hard, pay their bills, and support those they love. All businesses are filled with good and bad. Hospitals have many, many people who sacrifice much for others. Their jobs are hard and they face illness and death every day. These people deserve our support during this very tough time in their lives. My prayers go out to them all.

@9:21......my you must be in administration. It shows thru. To do all that research you can't be just an employee! But you did a fine job of defending the poor management of PRMC as well as overlooking the poor behavior of some of the "managers" that exhibit poor choices while at work.

Anonymous said...

I do know the following from personal experience: Name should be changed from PRMC to PRBC which stands for Peninsula Regional Brothel Center. Sex between medical staff is rampant and has always been so even on hospital grounds. Empty rooms, empty offices and big parking lots is just to much temptation particularly for the prostitution staff, oh oops, I mean medical staff. And yes, managers & supervisors are held to a different standard of personal and professional conduct which creates a troubling rift with most personnel. I have never in my life been exposed to a more immoral group of employees than I have at PRBC and lack of morals usually indicates lack of professionalism and shabby work performance. This is not a community hospital anymore; it's a playground for local rich & so called famous.

Anonymous said...

7:53, I didn't say anything about the management and "all that research " was one Google search - Maryland hospital layoffs. I take it you are one of the ones more interested in who is sleeping together. I am interested in where I can work to not have to fear for my family's future. We all have our priorities I guess. I was sharing the info in case there are any other nurses wondering the same thing I am, or even better if there's someone who can answer my question. What in healthcare is stable right now?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 9:41

Most people don't care who sleeps with who as long as it is kept outside the workplace. When it enters the work place it is like a cancer. It will spread and will damage an organization in many ways; in a hospital it will effect patient care. All well-run organizations recognize this and even Naleppa and her gifted management team understands this but she doesn't have the moral conviction or the backbone to do anything about it. When the moral standards are dropped in an organization it is a very dangerous situation. At PRMC it is a case of look the other way when you find employees violating the code of conduct. Cover it up when you find employees having sex at the hospital or even in the ER. How about turning a blind eye when a cardiac surgeon commits fraud and implants 200 unnecessary stents in patients and exposes them to medical risk because of greed? If an institution loses its moral compass this is never good for employees or the community and it certainly is not good for the patients!PRMC is an institution that is rotting from the core!

saying hopkins bayview laid off 60 people is actually quite low for a system that employs tens of thousands of employees...that is also a secondary hospital in baltimore (probably ranked 5-6 largest in the metro) and has nothing to do with the main campus? do you have any idea how many hospitals there are in the balt/wash corridor? hopkins alone employs over 30,000 people and 1,700 doctors at it main campus! that's more people than the city of salisbury crammed in a few square blocks...the bayview layoff was for a department that rehabed people after they left a hospital stay..basically phys therapy which so many outsource to non-hospital businesses these days. don't think the world is ending outside of the shore. western maryland is also similar to the shore..declining populations with below average wages.

any of you worrying about your job's stability on the lower shore...here's a hint
move across the bridge!
oh, but you wouldn't want to be like one of those western shore people! then stay and rot complaining for years to come.

This is one of the most depressing/toxic administrations I have ever seen.....
Under previous CEO's, employees were treated like family. We were your neighbors, hometown folks. Genuinely cared about.

Now we are warm bodies with a valid.license... waiting for our number to come up next.

JH employs 30,000! Wow I did not know that. Thank you for the info that gives me some perspective. I still think there is a lot to be said for the Eastern Shore though. I went to Hopkins once and though the hospital was nice, the area around it was pretty freaking scary! Say what you will about Sby, I feel a lot safer here.

What departments are holding meetings this afternoon?

Best time now for a UNION. And a real union. Not the Maryland Nurses Assoc. or the Service Employees International. We need the TEAMSTERS, who may be shady but stand up for their members. It is a proven fact that union health care workers average 5-6 dollars more an hour. More than enough to cover dues. Bring on the pledge cards, set up booths on Carroll,Vine, and Rt.13. Organize all workers-housekeeping,dietary,cna,,RN's. LIVE BETTER,WORK UNION-it's a proven fact.

The entire patient education department was let go today. One of the employees had been there at PRMC for 45 years! What a slap in the face.

Anonymous said...

Wait My managers initials are PW. Could it be??

Anonymous said...

4:17 if true it is sad for those employees. But that has been an over sized and over rated dept for years.

1:04. Would love to see your facts. Like most who make sweeping unsubstantiated claims -- you offer no evidence.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know, was a VP really let go today?

Anonymous said...

Very sorry about all those who have or may be w/out a job. Does anyone know, was a VP really let go today?

Anonymous said...

The last time we did that- they staked out to find out WHO was at the meetings. And my life was made hell at work

Anonymous said...

Ask a union health care worker. You must be part of the management team a PRMC. What are your qualifications to question me, a retired UNION nurse?

Tim Feist?

I am confused by all the comments referencing these layoffs as being related to Obamacare. I would suggest inexperienced management making very poor decisions resulting in significant financial losses are to blame. Maybe someone can enlighten me. Today was bloody Tuesday at PRMC many experienced caring long term employees were let go after years of faithful loyalty. Maybe the CEO should voluntarily take a significant pay cut so other employees may keep their jobs and feed their families.

Well there is 1 relevant fact: you are a UNION nurse. An angry one at that. So glad the prmc nurses -- who are saints -- don't share your venom. Oh and another fact: you aren't from here. So mind your own business.

Just thought everyone should know the email sent out today reguarding the TCU employees that were let go stating most have secured jobs is a very large exaggeration, most are still looking for jobs.

Your ignorance shows that you must be part of the hierarchy at PRMC. I have been a Wicomico resident all my life.I also worked at a UNION hospital in Prince Georges County, which I may add is in Maryland.

Anonymous said...

You are sadly mistaken on so many counts. If you have been a Wicomico resident all your life -- how then did you work at a UNION hospital in PG? If you say you commuted long distance then you obviously weren't employable here. quite a chip you have there UNION nurse.

P.R.M.C. - Your ACCREDITATION WITH THE EASTERN SHORE was withdrawn when the Dan Akin Show from Kentucky came into town, circa 1994/95. He brought with him his (at that time) #1 V.P., Alan Newberry and his NEPOTISTIC Family. This is when the administration's "open door" policy was CLOSED FOREVER! Virginia Layfield would be rolling over in her grave if she knew her beloved hospital was in the shape it is now in. Hope someday someone writes a book about the institution, I'm sure it will be a BEST SELLER!

So the princess's in the education dept will have to work their ass off now and see how the real nurses work. They are fortunate I guess to be placed in HR and other areas instead of out the door like most others. Where is the fairness at this place?

Anonymous said...

"Shrinking their way to greatness " this is the new PRMC management philosophy Let's care for our patients like they are family. Really is this how management cares for the employees?

Anonymous said...

There will be more layoffs today.

Anonymous said...

Why do you fools keep blaming Obama? That place is going down because its so top heavy. If they eliminate some of the worthless director job and stop trying to buy every building and house in town..they wouldn't be broke. This all started a few years ago after Newberry left..you do the math!

7:58 PM- I chose to work at a real trauma center.2nd. busiest in Maryland. You obviously part of the PRMC hierarchy who is not employable anywhere else. Do you know a rectal from an oral temp?

Anonymous said...

Does anybody know how many layoffs there have been so far? And in what departments? Isn't that what this blog is supposed to be about? So act like adults and quit bickering! As a person who was recently laid off from there, I wouldn't have minded looking closer at the union idea. Maybe I'd still have a job. Only closed-minded simple people wouldn't be open to change.

Wboc said 58 more jobs

anonymous 2:22, who gives a crap. ONE job is a loss here on the shore. WBOC, WMDT and the DT's are so far behind in this story it isn't funny. AGAIN, if it wasn't for Salisbury News, NONE of you would know, (other than word of mouth) that any major layoffs even happened. We have changed the way news is exposed these days. So please don't come on here with the WBOC crap. WHERE WERE THEY A MONTH AGO WHEN WE WERE EXPOSING WHAT'S TO COME?

Anonymous said...

Yeah for Peggy Naleppa, we see her commercial that states "I will keep PRMC just the way its founding fathers started".
She can not run a groundhog from its nest let alone a hospital, and they pay her how many hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It is time for University or Hopkins to come in and take over.

Anonymous said...

Or could the layoffs be because ofthe lawsuits PRMC is hit with. Mu
ltiple HIPPA violation lawsuits and a couple of pending malpractice.
But of course again I agree alot of inexperienced managers and directors..... Susan McDonald for one, Karen Dunn, Peggy Naleppa is may evn fall into this catagory.

Anonymous said...

We must have the same boss! LMAO. This does explain why she is never in her office. Maybe next time I have a question I'll call HR.

Anonymous said...

Just be careful cause he may be scolding someone for not being perfect!! He IMO is one of the ones that needs to be walked out. And..PW is one of the absolute worse managers in the hospital.
