Maryland's Entrapment Of Physicians

Twenty four thousand physicians have been granted licenses to practice the medical arts in Maryland. This privilege came with one caveat, their licenses would be supervised by the Maryland Board of Physicians. Of the 21 political appointees on the Board forty percent are not physicians, which questions the extent of the expertise embedded in its membership. Worse, the Boards functions are not managed by physicians. Instead its administrative staff, which is heavily weighted with attorney input, runs the operations on a day to day basis. The Board’s quality assurance section is administered by lawyers, not physicians. Imagine the Maryland State Board of Law Examiners being fronted by physicians, the state would see an major reduction in malpractice suits. Maryland Board of Physicians must comply with Maryland legislative mandates which are in place to protect the public from errant physicians and to provide doctors a level of due process when their practices come into question.

After the recent fiasco with Dr. Brent Fox, perhaps more stringent oversight is necessary. If a doctor is practicing within the circle of law and medical standards, why fear supervision? Dr. Fox's patients weren't the only victims because the families of his patients are also victims. Dr. Fox proved that even criminal drug dealers can have a medical license. More oversight and supervision is most definently warranted. The public needs to be protected from drug dealing predators who operate under the disguise of medical professionals.

OMG, will you just shut up. He may or may not share in the blame but point your crooked little finger at the ones who deserve it.

The lowlifes seeking the drugs in the first place. They will use any trick they can to get what they want. There will always be abuse from these type of people.

Now a man's career is ruined. Other doctors are running scared they will be next. People who really need the drugs for legit reasons will be suffering too.

For what? A few headlines. An attempt for the feds to show the public they are doing their job.

If this or any other doctor did anything wrong, they should be sanctioned. And the druggies should be punished and/or treated for addiction as well.

One of the women who started all this mess in the first place is an admitted drug abuser and drug seeker.

What will become of that slimeball and others like her? You and people like you want to hang the doctors and let these slugs go on to the next victim and ruin their careers.

They lie, cheat and steal to get what they want. Let's be a little more responsible and address the real criminals here.

Most hospital boards are "laymen". In our case ...realtors to acquisition land in the name of the "non-profit" hospital.

Dr. Fox is a good man! Not a sleaze-ball like some "touchy feely" who can get away with it...
