On November 4, 2011, Stephen James Merritt, age 38, of Mardela Springs, Wicomico County, Maryland was sentenced to one hundred ten (110) years in the Division of Corrections. Merritt pleaded guilty on August 30, 2011, to three counts of sexual abuse of a minor and five counts of third degree sexual offense, committed against eight minor children.
"The State commends the bravery of the victims and their families. Their courage to come forward and be heard has resulted in the removal of a sex offender from our community for a very long time," stated Wicomico County State’s Attorney, Matthew A. Maciarello.
State’s Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center and its partners (Salisbury Police Department, Maryland State Police, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Social Services and Life Crisis Center), and ASA Jamie Dykes for their work in the investigation and prosecution of this case.

Well-done, Law Enforcement Team - particularly the SA. Let's hope this monster doesn't see the outside of a prison for the rest of his life...
