who cares, I don' pay for it anyway. you buy it for me! It's free, just like my housing, my medical care, my electricity, my cell phone. But looks like you are gonna have to dig a little deeper to keep me in the lifestyle I've become accustomed to!

I am stuck in the '70's. I get sticker shock every time I go to market.

"back in the day"; this would be mid 60's, you could get 4 filled, paper bags of groceries (1 weeks worth) for $25-$27. oh happy day..

What's the deal with bacon prices going so high? I'll only buy it on sale now and freeze it.

Haven't you heard about the high price of pork? (that's where bacon comes from)

Haven't you heard about people stealing thousands of pigs because they are at such a high price? Higher than any time in history.

Read much?

Was approximately $100.00 this time last year for 2 weeks. As of last week it was $237.89 for approximately the same items. What I don't understand is how I started switching over to store brand items months ago to cut cost.

Food costs are definitely up quite a bit, but I continue coupon clipping and watching for good sales, so I save that way. I don't know how anyone can afford it otherwise.

$130 a week back in 2005 for my family of five and now it is about $225 per week. I have switched to generics wherever possible and cut down on meats but the costs are out of control. My costs include household cleaners, pet food, and most of our personal items that I buy at Walmart along with the food.
