SALISBURY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE BARRICADED SUSPECT

On September 28, 2011 at approximately 2:29 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to 423 Washington Street for the report of a physical altercation with a gunshot fired. During the response to the residence the officers were advised that a witness had observed a physical altercation between the below listed suspect and another adult male. During the altercation the suspect produced a handgun and fired a shot in the direction of the victim. The victim was able to escape without injury and leave the area. As officers arrived to the address the officers observed the suspect flee into the residence. The officers immediately established a perimeter around the residence and began to try to communicate with the suspect to have him exit the residence peacefully. While officers were attempting to establish communication, neighboring residents were evacuated from the area for their safety. As the officers continued to attempt contact with the suspect it became evident to perimeter officers that there were other subjects inside of the residence. After a short time, the other subjects left the residence and were safely escorted from the area. Interviews with the two (2) subjects revealed that they, a male and female, had been held inside of the residence at gunpoint by the suspect until they were able to escape.

At approximately 7:24 pm, the suspect exited the residence and surrendered peacefully. There were no injuries. A search and seizure warrant was executed on the residence and resulted in the recovery of the handgun, a Colt revolver. The investigation is continuing and further charges are forthcoming.

The Salisbury Police were assisted by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, the Maryland State Police, the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office, the Ocean City Police Department, the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation, the Salisbury Fire Department Emergency Medical Service and the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Why weren't the DEA, FBI, MDE, DEA, EPA, Social Services, and Homeland Security present? Seriously - it seems like a giant waste of manpower and money for that situation.

it would have been cheaper to just put a bullet into this guy .....now we taxpayers have to house this guy and pay for his trial at which one of our Liberal judges will feel bad and give him the most lenient sentence ..... a piece of hot lead is always cheaper and will stop this guy from offending ever again

A person shoots at someone, goes in to a house holding 2 people hostage, all just a block from a school, and you feel that a few police departments (a handfull of officers from each,or a specialized unit) a couple of ambulances, and the states atty is a waste of manpower???? Let me guess, you could have taken care of this all by yourself...Idiot.

5:57....10:14 is correct. The States Attorney isn't needed on the scene. Law Enforcement agencies have been dealing with this stuff for years without them being on the scene. I can see SPD (having original jurisdiction), WCSO, and MSP. They all have jurisdiction and manpower that manpower would have been helpful in evacuating the neighbors as is protocol. I also get the ambulance in the event someone was hurt. But Come on. OCPD? The Fire Marshalls Office? Really? Wasting resources is one of the reasons our government spends so much money. And the fact that is was 3 blocks from a school is of no consequence. The school was not the target of this guy's actions. Local law enforcement had this all under control and there was no need for additional agencies who aren't usually called out for such things.

652 The Fire Marshall was critical to this situation, if you don't know why then you have no clue what was going on. You are probably scratching your head wonding, "why would they need the Fire Marshall?" Well you have no idea becasue you were not there and have no idea how they got him out of the house. As for the attorneys, law enforcement requested a review of a warrant and subpoenas for records. (You are now probably wondering why would they need a warrant or records...well it is probably better that you don't know the answer to that question. The SA came down then left with police.

So go ahead and keep slamming the people who take time away from their families to get the job done. My guess is that you do know why all of those people were there, you just want to take some shots at the people you don't like.

Anyone know why the OCPD was there?
