N.J. Governor Vetoes "Snooki Subsidy"

Chris Christie says he won’t pay for a project that "does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state."

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is no fan of MTV’s Jersey Shore, and on Monday he made that explicitly clear by vetoing a $420,000 tax break for the hit reality show.

Dubbed the "Snooki subsidy," the tax credit is part of a $10 million state program that grants eligible film and TV production companies a 20-percent tax credit on their expenses in New Jersey.

According to USA Today, the MTV program brings in additional jobs and millions of dollars to the state. So why’d you veto the break, bro?

I don't blame the gov. He's probably embarassed. Dumbest show ever!

Did the show meet all of the other eligibility requirements outlined in the guidelines for the state program? If so, then it sounds like Christie is just showboating for politics. But seeing as how the show will go on regardless, doesn't this provide an example of why the program may not be needed in the first place?

Good for the gov! Just another piece of crap with a cast replete with despicable characters doing despicable things.
If they don't like it, try moving a show called "Jersey Shore" to any other state. Any decent person from New Jersey should be embarrassed by this show!
