JEWLERY THIEF SOUGHT BY OCPD

On September 15, 2011, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Ocean City Police responded to the Liljenquist & Beckstead jewelry store located at the Gold Coast Mall (11461 Coastal Hwy Ocean City, MD 21842), in reference to a theft.

Officers arrived at the scene and learned that a black male had entered the jewelry store at approximately 3:30 p.m. While in the store, a sales associate was showing the male several pieces of expensive jewelry. While showing the male these items, which had been removed from the display case, the male grabbed the items from the sales persons hand and ran out of the store.

The sales clerk attempted to pursue the suspect and was helped by two unidentified males; however the suspect was able to get away. The approximate value of the items stolen is between $40,000-$50,000 the exact description of the stolen items is not being disclosed

The suspect is described as a: black male, 6’00 to 6’03, average build, clean shaven, short black hair, brown eyes and was wearing a black suit, dark colored hat with a silver scarf or tie. The suspect was also wearing a black colored hat.

Ocean City Police are seeking information from two persons who gave chase to the suspect after the suspect while the suspect was fleeing the jewelry store. Police are asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Ocean City Police Departments Criminal Investigation Divisions General Assignment Section, Detective Carl Perry at 410-723-6604.
