Bay Bridge Toll Going Up To $4.00

BALTIMORE (AP) - The Maryland Transportation Authority board has agreed to scale back a proposed toll hike increase on the Bay Bridge after public outcry.

The board agreed Thursday on a plan to raise the toll to $4 in November and $6 in 2013. It originally proposed increasing the toll to $5 on Oct. 1 and $8 in 2013.

Who gives a rats butt if its a FEW cheaper than the rest any where else...

Point is, its 1.50, soon to be 3.50 more than I want or even NEED to pay...

How the F' do you expect people to save or want to spend on trinkets to help the econ, when all your money is in taxes and fees and yet the govt is still broke...

Soon they will take 100% of your pay and still be broke...

Where is the Air tax?
Where is the dirt tax?
Where is the smog tax?
Where is the rain tax?
Where is the wind tax?
Where is the tax for the rain being on the road with rubber tax?

Delaware tourism should use this to their advantage and try and court the 100's of 1000's of folks who live north of Baltimore city to use the DE route while heading to the beaches avoiding the Bay Bridge.

This is a perfect example of a tax levied originally for a period of time to pay for the contruction. They are NEVER levied for only a set period of time. Once a tax is levied - you got it for life! And it goes up, and up, and up, and up.......

They didn't listen to us at the meetings - we'll have to tell them at the voting machines.....

What is all the fuss about?

Who else is going to pay for the illegals that Maryland hides?

You are absolutely correct!!!

They knew we didn't want it, in ANY amount. They did it anyway.

The state of Maryland has reported a SURPLUS, yet we are TAXED more in way of toll hikes.

Vote every one of those non-servants out of office.

Replace them with REPRESENTATIVES of the people.

And if they don't know what the definition of a rep is,(obviously they do not), let them know it means to DO THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE WHO ELECTED THEM.

This was not the will of the people but the will of those in office.

It's time to impose our will upon them.

I hate being right about these thieving slimeballs EVERY TIME. I TOLD you the "town hall meetings" were a farce and a scam merely done to make the citizens think they had some "input". The ONLY input required from you is the input of MORE of your money! At the end of each and every one of those meeetings, the "representatives" went into the back room and burst into crazy laughter and wondered how many more of these stupid "meetings" with the serfs are they going to have to sit through? It was a done deal BEFORE any of those events took place. Just like I said. I was, at the time, very amused at all the people who thought they were going to make a difference by "making their voices heard"....LOL!!!

10:26 when is the last time you made that drive? In addition to the toll at the susquehanna river, there is a toll of $4 on 95 just to enter the almighty amazing state of delaware. Then there are tolls along route 1 to go south. Delaware charges more tolls via that route than MD would going the traditional route.

Isn't this hike going to pay for the Intercounty Connector Road in Montgomery County? Seems as if a little investigation needs to be done regarding where our tolls are going.

3:06 a few weeks ago. Rt 1 to 896 to 40. The only toll is $5 for the Susquehanna. It takes only 15 more minutes (sometimes is quicker if toll booth at the Bay Bridge is backed up) to go that way from Phoenix MD to Ocean City and the drive is much more scenic.
