Having previously worked and dealt with OC City Hall - for well over a decade - on a daily basis I - would like to chime-in.
Ocean City's government has been out of control since Mayor Kelly left office. It used to be a very nice place to work, live, and do business. All that changed when they decided to go to the City Management form of government. You have department heads making 6 digit incomes and the work is seasonal. Moreover - virtually all departments are frought with corruption, waste, fraud, & abuse. What transpired is that when Mayor Kelly left office - the taxpayers could no longer hold their government accountable to the people. Instead - the government departments - held the property owners hostage to their own empire schemes. That government still holds true to this very day.
Early one morning one day - I went down to Granville's office - (former City Councilman) - and informed him that there would be a time when they - (gov. officials) - would turn on him. The event happened when he found himself working - (with all his assets) - being targeted with high property taxes in excess of 1 million dollars a year.
As the old saying goes;
'What goes around comes around'
To 8:28 - Amen brother.
I hope that one of the OC residences stands-up and reads word for word what you have just said to the Ocean City Council.
That is exactly why I didn't vote for Mathias as our Maryland Senator. If people only knew the half about the inner workings of OC they would never stray to their streets.
