A Comment Worthy Of A Post

cs21801 has left a new comment on your post "Is Mayor Ireton Completely Clueless? The Storm Is ...":

WBOC SHOULD BE ASHAMED! They have done nothing but scare old people for the past 3 days. Even now at 10:30 they are still trying to tell people 'the worst is still to come!' If you look at the reporting stations in Virginia Beach you see that the winds barely topped 35mph. Yet even knowing that they still trying to make out like a killer storm is going to hit at midnight.

We have had 2, count them TWO leaves blow off trees in the yard, OMG THE CARNAGE!! (this is north of Delmar)

Now certainly people in the coastal areas will have some flooding from all the rain, it's nothing to be running wall-to-wall news coverage over.

Maybe they use turn off some of the multi-million dollar weather equipment, and look out a window! Or at least get on the internet and look at one of the many weather enthusiast sites and follow the REAL history of this storm.

They just keep spewing the bogus information from the government (both National and Local) who need to a false crisis to seem important and overstep their authority.

weather channel has VA winds sustained at 54mph. That tops 35mph. Winds at 2-5 this morning will be 50-60mph from Salisbury east

A child was killed when a falling tree hit his apartment building in NEwport News, VA. We are still at risk and should seek safety and pray for a good outcome for one another and for families who experience loss.

Hey CS- you and all the others complaining about coverage would be the first to be complaining that the government wasn't coming to your aid or giving you enough FEMA payments if your home or loved ones' homes were destroyed.

Who is forcing you or anyone else to watch the newscasts or read websites? Turn off your tv turn off your computer and go read a book.

Nice try Anonymous10:58pm
weatherchannel.com VA Beach: Wind:
From WNW at 29mph gusting to 45mph

The 35mph in the quote was SUSTAINED winds, not max, but find me any Virginia Beach, Newport News, Norfolk, or ESVA or Ocean City Station with anywhere close to hurricane winds?

The 80mph quoted by NOAA is for the NW quadrant of the eye wall which is far off to sea, you won't see anything close to that on land with this storm.

And as far as Anonymous11:02am, I'm sorry to be harsh, but people die every single day, even children. 1 child died in this KILLER STORM EVERYONE PANIC, along with what someone ran thru a stoplight that power was out.

Guess what a person died yesterday right in Salisbury when a driver didn't stop for a stop sign for the Bypass exit off Rt 13 - maybe Mayor Ireton better keep everyone home for an extra couple days just to be 100% sure no one stubs their toe!

Robert: I work for a living, I would never accept charity. If my home was destroyed I would deal with it, not hold my hand out!

And I don't watch WBOC in general because I don't care what happens in Milton, DE and I don't like commericals. I've only flipped it on a couple times tonight because of their sensationalistic facebook posts. I don't watch but about 2 hours of TV a week, when I do it's whatever I find on Netflix.

As for being on the computer, well by "law" i'm not allowed to leave the house and do something worthwhile, so I have to kill the time somehow.

I don't know where you are but we've had hellacious gusts well over 55 mph and I know some have been higher than that.

Make that NE quadrant, sorry blogger won't let me edit after posting, I guess I should proofread before submitting.

Who is CS? I think 6 people have died so far because of this storm. That's pretty good really. It could have been much worse and still could.

Not making light of anyone who was killed or their families.

But come on, this is not the big bad hurricane we have been hearing about for the past couple of days.

We have seen worse and never had a curfew either.

Salisbury needs a curfew because of crime not this storm.

And I'm sure there are those of you that wish something bad would happen just to say 'I told you so' to me and Joe and any others who don't believe all the hype.

Except for tornado's this is just a tropical storm.

Correction: 9 people have been killed from this storm. And some of those could have been avoided.

11:19 maybe you should go ahead and drive out in this mess. My husband is out in it with the rest of the police/fire/emt rescuing idiots like yourself who feel the need to be out in a hurricane. Keep your nasty comments to yourself.

11:53 PM

sorry but yours is the nastiest comment I have seen so far.

It's better to be safe, especially for the elderly. Anyone who criticizes the media THIS TIME is ridiculous. No one really knew how Hurrican Irene would affect this area, so why not be overly cautious? People are so nasty.

for what its worth said...

carnage from east wicomico!!!!!
i have a water logged back yard and 20 minutes worth of tree branches to pic up, electric, phone and cable still intact, mr albero hits it over the MSM again.

Anti-climatic. The storm that never happened.

12:56 That was totally uncalled for. You should be on your knees thanking your good Lord there are police, firemen and emts willing to risk their lives. It goes without saying that their families are at home worrying about their safety.

11:19 I appreciate your husband putting his life on the line for the idiots who are out. I know from experience that you worry in your heart, with a smile on your face for the family with you at home. God bless.

Indeed they should. We wish they'd move OUT OF TOWN! NO REPORTING on Salisbury, just Delaware. 2 tornadoes, a curfew, a 3 day old "LIVE"stream. I can go on. But I tell you, there is NO REASON TO WATCH wboc anymore.

this was a non-event for the eastern shore. it was not the world ending monster the politicans made it out to be and the weather reports kept trying to make it become. Our mayor and county exec. are idiots! Bottom line!

What a ignorant post. People are without power. Trees are falling down and damaging property. If you have only had 2 leaves fall, then bless your little heart.

4:05 and 7:27, you have the best "on spot" comments. I don't know why WBOC reporting should be faulted, as they report what is fed to them by Weather Channel and other sources. I watched WC most of the day yesterday, and all of their "expert" models and other scenarios showed virtually the same paths that Irene would be taking. All of them had the storm passing directly over Delmarva. Yes, the outcome wasn't what we had feared, and yes, the weather people were wrong, but shouldn't we be on our knees thanking God that "the big one" wasn't what it could have been? I expect to see a lot of Monday-morning quarterbacking. I'm just thanking God that my family and I--and all of us--are safe.

Obama says to Raise our taxes and he will ensure we do not have anymore storms like this anymore!

AHHHH, My King Obama makes me feel safe.

Not much local info for Salisbury is my major complaint.

DILLIGAFF about Rehoboth? No! Maybe they should get their own station....

WMDT is even worse! Their weather girl last night at 11 said that Irene was still a strong Cat. 2 hurricane - what??? What a waste of money her degree was.

On the contrary, it was very much called for. You can lick their boots if you want to, but I'll reserve my praise for when they actually do something.

I would rather be overly prepared than not prepared at all. Have we learned nothing from Hurricane Katrina? I would rather be scared by an oncoming hurricane than told everything will be fine and than in the middle of the storm forced to evacuate in a football stadium. Over 1800 people lost their lives and some have never been found because of Katrina. I will never underestimate the power of mother nature.

1152 This is NOT the gulf of Mexico with waters over 80 degrees and OC and the lower shore wasn't built on a swamp like New Orleans. Have you ever been there? We are talking about a storm that was a category 2 in South Carolina, with cooler waters. In over 40 years, a storm like that has never increased in power and hit the eastern shore after hitting NC and been much more than wet weather, and a little wind. You are stupid for even making the comparison! You are either uneducated or a liberal pinko, with a woe is me mentality. Put your big boy pants on. We have northeasters that do more damage than this. Albero did a better job of predicting than either of the dingdongs on 16 or 47. We needed a basic, "get prepared" and that was it. Not a full blown scare tactic for a storm that was a dud. people won't take the next one seriously because of the stupidity of how we handled this one. Gee, thanks mr exdicktave and mr mayorpeepie.
