WASHINGTON -- Debt ceiling negotiators think they've hit on a solution to address the debt ceiling impasse and the public's unwillingness to let go of benefits such as Medicare and Social Security that have been earned over a lifetime of work: Create a new Congress.
This "Super Congress," composed of members of both chambers and both parties, isn't mentioned anywhere in the Constitution, but would be granted extraordinary new powers. Under a plan put forth by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his counterpart Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), legislation to lift the debt ceiling would be accompanied by the creation of a 12-member panel made up of 12 lawmakers -- six from each chamber and six from each party.
Legislation approved by the Super Congress -- which some on Capitol Hill are calling the "super committee" -- would then be fast-tracked through both chambers, where it couldn't be amended by simple, regular lawmakers, who'd have the ability only to cast an up or down vote. With the weight of both leaderships behind it, a product originated by the Super Congress would have a strong chance of moving through the little Congress and quickly becoming law. A Super Congress would be less accountable than the system that exists today, and would find it easier to strip the public of popular benefits. Negotiators are currently considering cutting the mortgage deduction and tax credits for retirement savings, for instance, extremely popular policies that would be difficult to slice up using the traditional legislative process.

Well Again i will state this for 150th time... The govt will DO what they want WHEN they want to and nothing can change that fact... If you people don't wake up soon, there will be no need to wake up... All your life's hard work will be gone an your money and liberties..
Now if this doesn't prove it then what the hell else do you need to realize that they begin the govt want money and power and care not for you or your thoughts...
The ONLY way this can be solved is not by voting because that to is now a waste of time... your vote means nothing and it won't matter who you vote in, when one side has more pull than the other, that side will be power hungry...
I mean right now the dems are power hungry but once you vote in repubs they too will be power hungry, and then it will go back the other way... back and forth, back and forth...
Its time we revolt and not some POS tea party wanna be, I mean an arms revolt because that's where it is headed... That is the only way congers will take the people seriously... but that to shouldn't happen because it should never have gotten this bad...

A low, deep rumble starts in the belly of our once great nation as the government continues to create unconstitutional positions, circumvents the Constitution, and violates the rights of the people on multiple fronts. The will of the people has been wholly ignored spurring protest upon protest. Voting has proven to be a worthless task because corruption has infiltrated government to it's core as far down as the local level. The talk of armed revolution increases with each passing day as proven again by the comments attached to this post. Wireless, low tech communications are being established as we speak by citizens across the peninsula and indeed the nation. From CB radios, to small hand-held GMRS walkie-talkies, to short wave base units requiring special licenses (not that licenses will matter) citizenz are purchasing systems to enable them to communicate with other patriots when things head south in the very near future. Anyone interested in establishing CB communications need only go to channel 3 on the CB on sunday night after 7 to communicate anonymously. Ask for patriots. No illegal activities please. The activities of those who recognize and prepare for the inevitability of a rebellion were once ridiculed but now the number of Americans who actively prepare for such a revolution increases daily. More and more Americans prepare to be self-sufficient by growing their own food and raising livestock. They begin to stock up on canned goods, non-perishables, and ammunition. Yes, ammunition. They are prepared to defend their families, their food, and their freedoms. Interestingly enough, when the economy finally collapses (and it will) a large cache of ammunition and food will be tantamount to having a million dollar bank account right now. You can't eat money and there will be no food on the shelves to buy. If you think you will live by moving into the local woods and eating deer and rabbits think again. There will be 50,000 other people in Wicomico County alone with the same plan. Most American families are 3 days from starvation with the food they have in their homes at any given time. How long will YOU last when the poo poo hits the fan? You don't think the government will take care of you...do you?
What happened to repersentation beofre taxation? With only 12 representing us that is not fair represntation since there are 51 states in the union. Those who agree with this being done can move to another country and leave us alone seeing as they have no idea what they are doing and do not remember the history that we went through to be where we are today.

Are they saying that they were elected to handle this business, but they CAN'T and now need to "appoint" some people to do the job THEY are paid to do?? What?! I asked my boss if he would "appoint" someone to do the things I don't like to do and what he said can't be printed. I like the way they've thought about giving this "appointed" group such broad, Constitution-ignoring power. The arrogance is astounding. The prior poster was very correct -- millions of people are now contemplating, advocating, and preparing for revolution. You may not like that idea, but its no longer a tin-foil, conspiracy freak idea. Some (many, and growing every day) are just fed up. Remember, it took 25-30 years of debate and anger to explode into the (first) American Revolution. Whats gonna be the spark this time that will finally make "we, the people" rise and take their country back? It is as inevitable as todays sunset....

12:13 makes some really good points. I have been thinking for a while that things might get real bad. What would happen to my family? I live in Salisbury. If the power went out where would we get water. Thats more critical than food from the beginning. We can live for a couple of weeks without food. But not more than a day or two without water. People wouldn't wait that long before they started breaking down your door to take what you have. I'm thinking I should start taking this a little more serious and make a plan. These crooks in office will destroy our country and still be eating steak while we are eating bugs or rats or something.

The PEOPLE don't subvert the constitution and aren't doing it now. Lots of American's have fought and died for what? What we have NOW?? "when in the course of human events...", and who, exactly, is inciting discontent if not the Senators and Representatives who thumb their nose at the people --- "we don't know whats in it: we'll have to pass it to find out..." (nancy pelosi, referring to legislation she trying to pass). American citizens being murdered by people who walk across our borders while our "leaders" tell us border security is GREAT! The same leaders, who, in order to "protect" us, strip us of the rights that have served us so well, while innoculating themselves from the travails of the normal citizen. There WILL be another revolution. Be ready or be a victim. Or start learning how to salute, true german style. On your knees. Even in the first American Revolution, there were still lots of people who turned their friends (and family) over to the British, because, no matter what the Crown did, they were THE GOVERNMENT. And always right. 1:51 probably comes from a long line of informers and sheep.
As usual, Imclain hit the nail on the head. There will be many who inform on those of us who will be freedom fighters if and when the time ever comes. There were then and there will be now. Back then the sons of liberty would take to task those who openly stood for tyranny and continued British rule. The fact is that the government is now much stronger than the British were back then. Those who oppose the efforts of patriots will feel empowered and protected by the very same government who will take every penny they earn and strip them of every right that their creator has endowed upon them. Not me! Not mine. Not while I live and breath. You can rest assured that our group of patriots are prepared and stand at the ready to defend ourselves and others - no matter what. I'd like to see more open preparation. Sunday evening huh? Seems like there are more preppers here on the shore than I thought. We have comms, but we will maintain op sec. We'll monitor the airways this sunday. It will be interesting to see how many come out.
