WASHINGTON - Anyone heading into the Chesapeake Bay for a swim this time of year usually have to keep an eye for out for jellyfish, but not this year.
"We have sort of a holiday on Atlantic sea nettle jellyfish," says National Aquarium curator Jack Cover.
"This year is just an incredibly unique situation," he adds.
That unique situation? All of the spring rain made the bay less salty than the jellyfish prefer, but they are likely to show up soon.

Not true they are out and in fact they came out early.
All of the spring rain? What rain , we had much less than most years. I live on the water and the salt is a little above normal.
When I was fishing the other day , many jellyfish went by the boat and I commented to my wife.
" It's a lot of jellyfish this year"
Of course , what do we know , ole Jack Cover works at the aquarium.
I hold Obama directly responsible for disappearance of the jelly fish.
Well I have seen plenty of jellyfish this year. The red as well as the all clear. The old timers called them sea nettles.
Obama took all the jelly fish and he's using them as a spine.
Its Bush's fault. The rain, or the lack of it, the jellyfish, or the lack of them, and the economy. Or the lack of one. On the other hand, a couple of days ago, a man in Detroit woke up from a coma after 18 years. THAT was ALL obama...
the wicomico river is full of them. thanks sjd
