A fire Wednesday afternoon heavily damaged the pump station at the Mountaire Farms facility near Millsboro, state fire officials said.
An investigation determined that the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
The fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. at the facility in the 29000 block of John J. Williams Highway, said Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Randall Lee.
When firefighters from Millsboro and Indian River arrived, fire was coming from the 20-foot by 30-foot pump station.
Damage was estimated at $30,000.
