ACLU vs. the People?

I’ve been a member and financial supporter of the American Civil Liberties Union for 25 years despite opposing almost every cause it champions (abortion, gay marriage, death penalty repeal, higher taxes, etc.).

Yet, every year I stroke a check because the ACLU provides a vital service protecting my individual rights and liberties against majority infringement. Time and again the ACLU invokes the Constitution’s Bill of Rights on behalf of unpopular clients, pro bono, because all of us are only as free as the least of us is free.

That’s why it pains me to see the ACLU’s Maryland chapter go astray of this worthy mission by trying to block the people’s right to referendum.

Earlier this year, the legislature and Gov. O’Malley enacted the Dream Act extending in-state tuition rates at state colleges and universities to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria.

Opponents passionately argue that rewarding illegal immigration encourages more of the same and punishes legal immigrants who played by the rules. Nor can we afford millions in tuition breaks to help illegals take our kids’ places in college.

The aclu is nothing more than another arm of the liberal communist party that is hell bent on destroying America. Where were they when the communists attacked Joe the Plumber or Sarah Palin? Yhey wiil, however, rush to the defense of ILLEGAL aliens. Anyone who supports them is either a communist themselves or simply a kool-aid deinking misguided fool.

What idiotic remarks. The ACLU is on the wrong side of this one, both in purpose and process. That doesn't lead to any of the BS you are ranting about. Stop getting your thoughts from Glenn Beck, he's mentally ill.

I'm not sure what you mean by communists attacking Joe The Plumber and Sarah Palin, but neither of those idiots were to my knowledge silenced by the government or anyone else.

Mr. Blair Lee , you are one sick individual. I don't care what you do or how much you have , the ACLU is not a group that will improve this nation.
They are not:
1. fexable
2. helping
3. for America
4. for the republic
5. religious
6 good for any part of this country

They remind me of the lawyers who run this nation now a days.

Shows his mentallity by consistantly writing a check to an organization that he totally disagrees with on their actions.

I would find a better cause or charity that is more worthy of my money.
