Lockheed Martin Is Laying Off 1,200 Employees

The aerospace and defense contractor is trying to cut its workforce by 8 percent. Lockheed Martin says these cuts come as the budget pressures force the Obama administration to pare back defense spending. That means an end to certain contracts.

Sucks that people lose jobs but defense budget needed to be cut a long time ago.

Probably doesn't help that Lockheed builds defective aircraft...anyone want to go up in an F-22 right now?

How about we cut aid to all other foreign countries as well as quit giving handouts to people who don't want to work before we cut the defense budget...

2:50 I agree. Maybe we need to take care of our own country before we spend money to try and change others!

2:50, that "aid to all other foreign countries" often includes loans to purchase american-made weapons, aircraft, and other heavy equipment. Therefore cutting them off would likely equal even more layoffs such as the one in this article.
