A recent Gallup poll shows 53 percent of Americans support making gay marriage legal, Reuters reports.
The poll shows a significant change in mood on the issue from a year ago, when an equal majority opposed same-sex matrimony.
The latest Gallup findings, Reuters reports, are in line with two earlier national polls this spring that show support for legally recognized gay marriage has gained a newfound majority among Americans.
According to Gallup, Democrats and political independents accounted for the entire shift in its survey compared to last year, when only 44 percent of all respondents favored gay marriage, while 53 percent were opposed.
The percentage of Republicans favoring same-sex matrimony held steady at 28 percent.
While same-sex marriage remains a highly controversial issue, homosexual couples have won the right to legally wed in five states – Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Iowa. The District of Columbia has also approved same-sex marriage.

Thats because a majority of us know that with high unemployment, booming deficits, and US troops involved in atleast 3 war zones, the last thing we need to do is waste valuable time and energy on what two adults choose to partner with.
Absolutely support it. It's a civil rights issue. Besides, government should not be in the marriage business at all.
That's because perhaps a majority have determined that who one marries is no one else's business. Let's continue the trend and get the government OUT of all of our personal decisions regarding religion, family and choice.

No. We need to stop changing our rules and laws for those who deviate from the way they were created. Stand up for what is right and that is the laws God handed down to us. Male and female were created with different sexual organs for reproduction. Out of this we have relationship. Out of that relationship we have marriage.
If you don't like the laws and rules we have, go to another country where they have the life you choose. I'm quite happy with how our country was founded and am tired of changing things.

More BS polls! They couldn't pass it in California that should tell you something. I wish gay people would just leave us alone and stop the harassment. They have the exact same rights under civil unions which proves it's not about equality it's about attacking and destroying the family unit.

The left wing movement including Homosexuals have made it their mission to destroy family values, patriotism and religion. These are just a few examples of American staples that have held the country together as a moral and civil society so it only make's sense if you wish to destroy a country that you would start with the things that hold it together and unite people.

If we don't like the laws, then just leave... don't do the AMERICAN thing and become involved, like part of what it means to be an AMERICAN and become involved to make this nation a better place? To do your part to shape the law in a democratic process?

Your argument would make sense if we found no examples of homosexual tendencies or acts in nature of species other than humans. Fact is.... it is easy to find it. If your argument is that we don't find homosexuality in other species... then your argument fails.
