Second U.S. Sailor's Body Recovered In Afghanistan

Villagers find 25-year-old's remains clothed in uniform, officials say

KABUL, Afghanistan
— The body of a second U.S. sailor who went missing in a dangerous part of eastern Afghanistan has been recovered, a senior U.S. military official and Afghan officials said Thursday.

The U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to disclose the information, said the family of Petty Officer 3rd Class Jarod Newlove — a 25-year-old from the Seattle area — was notified of his death.

Government and police officials in Logar province said villagers found a body, clothed in a uniform, on Wednesday in Baraki Barak district.

Thank you to this man for his service to our country. This saddens me every time I hear of a soldier dying for us. God Bless your soul! Your family will be in my thoughts and prayer. RIP!

May God comfort the family of this hero...his sacrifice and his willingness to offer that in the service of his country should humble everyone....thank you. And thanks to every other soldier putting their very lives on the line....
