Motor Cycle Crash Leaves Biker And Passenger Injured

Location: Naamans Road and Grubb Road, Wilmington, Delaware

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, May 2, 2010, at 12:01 a.m.

Involved Parties:
2009 Ford Escape SUV, operated by Michael Ruderman, 40, of Wilmington, Delaware
2003 Harley Davidson MC, operated by Francis Forrest, 46, of Wilmington, Delaware
Passenger, Wendy Pease, 48, of Wilmington, Delaware

Resume: Shortly after midnight on Sunday, Troopers and emergency personnel responded to Naamans Road and Grubb Road for a SUV vs. motorcycle crash.

During the course of this investigation, officers learned that the SUV and the bike collided in the area of the intersection. While contacting the operator of the Ford, Mr. Ruderman, officers determined that he had been driving while impaired. It was also determined that he was not paying attention when the crash occurred.

The operator of the Harley and his passenger were both transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Michael Ruderman was transported from the scene back to Troop 1 where he was formally charged with DUI, Inattentive Driving as well as two counts of Vehicular Assault II (misdemeanor). He was released on a $1,500.00 unsecured bond.
