Memory Lane Moment

Joe...don't know if you have been around this area long enough to remember this, but there may be some people in the area who were around for the last 25-30 years and do. Back in the day before satellite tv, our cable consisted of roughly 13 channels. On our Salisbury area local cable channel 10, was WDCA channel 20 from Washington, DC. On this station was an actor known as Dick Dyszel who played the part of Bozo the Clown early on (every town had their own Bozo, there were many across America), he played Captain 20 (in Vulcan ears) who hosted commercials for Star Trek episodes and contests (you could even get a Captain 20 club membership card!). He hosted a mid-day kids show, kind of Romper Room-like, called "Wow!" along with a lime green looking Cookie Monster knock off called Howard Huge. But for me and many others, he will always be known as the host of "Creature Feature" on Saturday nights at 11pm, Count Gore De Vol. With a lot of cheesy props, including his famous hanging rubber chicken, and a lot of very dry wit and inuendo, he brought us the best of the worst B grade horror movies and a few good ones as well. When the WDCA was bought out by Paramount in the late 80's, he signed off and I had thought he had left for good, but I recently found out he has been hosting a web based show of Creature Feature on his own web site www.countgore.com for about the last ten years. There is also a new documentary released last week called "Every Other Day is Halloween" about Mr. Dyszel. I am sure there are some in the area that will remember him, but if not, they can still check out some of his stuff on Youtube as well.

Thanks
James
