Every moment should be used to do the things you need to get done....in case things don't go as hoped. I have my bucket list ready to go!

Maybe part of enjoying life for Gary, or others, includes being in politics.

I have very close friends that have gone through cancer and survived. They all share one common theme with their bouts with cancer; with the exception of going through medical treatment, they did not let cancer come between them and their way of living. They all fought through their cancer and continued to work hard (if not harder) as if they never had cancer at all. I had one friend that had a very rare cancer who worked on the water for at least 12 hours a day during his entire cancer treatment. Most people wouldn't have the ability to do this without dealing with cancer; he did it with cancer!

Although I don't know what it is like to have cancer, I think that I would continue on with my way of living. Obviously the type of cancer may have an effect on this, but I truly believe that my survivor friends can attribute their success with the fact that they fought through and stayed active. To me, giving up your ways of life and the things you enjoy doing are like losing the first round to cancer.

Part of beating cancer is not letting it beat you first!

Step Down! If I were diagnosed with any stage. It's better for you and it's better for the area you are serving! When you are diagnosed with cancer you should focus on you! If you are that into the politics, help when and where you can from the sidelines!

I entered a surgery where it would be determined if I was Stage II or III based on what was found. Those days just before the surgery were intense for thinking about Plans A, B or Z. Luckily, it was a high end II that required no further treatment. I'm a teacher and I tried to go back to work within two weeks, but was told to just take the rest of the school year off..which was about 4 weeks. I KNOW my administration was being considerate of my health...but I wanted to get back to 'normal' and that meant teaching and working with my students. I felt a bit lost without that structure....SO my answer to your survey is---it should be That individual's decision!! Frankly, I find your questioning his decision in this survey to be insulting towards the individual you are focusing on.
I only answer it because having survived cancer and experienced the reactions from all...I've earned the RIGHT to respond.
With one side of your mouth you express sympathy, then the other poses this rather tacky 'Survey Question'.

Maybe Mr. Comegys is not ready to give up. In stepping down, it's almost as if he is paving the way for his demise. I think it shows great leadership and courage.

My father was diagnosed with cancer and worked until it was physically impossible.

Cancer takes enough - it shouldn't take your dignity.

I agree with 9:21 dont give up!

I think he should do what he thinks is best, perhaps staying involved in politics gives him strength to fight it, i also think this is a somewhat inappropriate question.

To those of you who wish to attack me because of this question, it's a fair question and one in which I believe a lot of people would like answers to.

The question does NOT suggest Mr. Comegys step down. It simply asks YOU, would you stay in politics or would you step down.

That being said, stop the personal attack messages and answer the question, or not.

Joe the inference is certainly there. I believe it is a personal choice depending on how you cope with the treatment.

I quess that is Mr Comegys choice. I dont know how much more enjoyment I can get out of life, there is not much that I havent already experienced, good & bad. My wife has beat it twice maybe she is more qualified to answer this then me.

Actually Joe, it is not a fair question. It is none of our business what he decides.

anonymous 11:10, actually it is every bit my business but that wasn't the question. I pay almost $7,000.00 a year in taxes for my building Downtown. That being said, NMr. Comegys works for ME and I have every right to ask such a question.

Nevertheless, I'm NOT asking Gary Comegys. I'm asking YOU the question.

One could argue that as long as anyone does the job for which they are "hired," how they handle their lives and treatment is no one's business, tax payer or not. If you want to get rid of Comegy's, vote him out. That is the way to make it your business. Unless and until you are faced with a cancer diagnosis, you have NO IDEA how you will handle it and therefore, have any clue as how to answer your "question." And yes, I am speaking from experience.

It is up to the person on how they want to continue with their life. Why stop doing anything as when you stop living, you STOP LIVING. Continue with life as is, but starting doing what you have always wanted to do.

Well i'm not a politician so I can't answer this poll question

only joe works for joe.

ok, so what would YOU do? (using your own words)

I believe your work keeps you alive. My father in law was a survivor for much longer than predicted because he was a needed person at his work. It all depends on what your value system is. Some people get validation from their family and some from their work. Stage three cancer for me.....I would want to spend my time running through the sprinklers with the ones that I love.

It is the will of the person that suffers this horrible fate.

He does NOT work for JUST YOU, but all of Salisbury
