Right now there's a bus on Hall Dr that can't get down the street due to vehicles parked along the road...it's not wide enough for the bus, she's blown the horn several times but no one has come out of the houses to move the vehicles. She's now called across the radio for someone to come to her location and help her.
There was another bus that skipped a road due to the driver saying it can't get down it safely.
Now another driver is picking up the Moss Hill locations due to the driver needing help due to roads.

Stay home.
Children should be kept home until all roads are clear.
Make it up in the summer, even if it is hard on the teachers summer vacation.
It will cost a lot less, and may save a childs life.
Roads wont be clear for another week due to lack of funds. I have seen a plow the last three storms two times and salt once and i put more salt on my sidewalk than they did in a quarter mile.....BUT WE NEED MORE TAX PAYERS MONEY
The roads could be a lot better if the people would move their cars, park on the right side of the street, used driveway, and the violators issued tickets and have vehicles towed.
How about actually getting off you lazy rears and shoveling your sidewalk and driveways. Then the kids could walk safely and you would have a place to park your car.
If the city needs funds, they need to enforce Code and Compliance NOW and begin fining every homeowner who has not shoveled their walkways, then tow all cars parked in the roads.
If you are complaining about the City's response to the road clearing, there are some legitimate concerns. However, these concerns to not relieve you of your responsibilities as homeowners and members of the community.

1:05, the reason is because everyone wants to complain, but when it comes to them getting off their lazy duffs, they can't. Buses not being able to get down Hall drive for parked cars has nothing to do with snow. I will bet if these schoolbus drivers were paid bases upon mileage and not a flat price, the roads would be fine to them. There aren't any roads that bad that a bus couldn't get down them. Cars are out everywhere.
Cars now have front-wheel drive which handles snow much better than rear-wheel drive. Buses have rear-wheel drive and don't handle snow and ice very well. So, even though a bus is bigger than a car, they don't handle very well.
5:02 Been in an ambulance lately? Try driving one or following one down Camden Ave. Happened to do that today. The cars tried getting out of the way as they are supposed to do. Guess what? Due to the mounds of snow and ice theres not much room to pull over. The ambulance had to drive down the middle without much room on either side for the other vehicles. Yes, it's that way on Hall and Frances also. You already know it all so you know that already but would prefer to put others down.
Wasn't sure where to put his to fill you in Joe but Parkside had another fire drill today (just had a real drill yesterday, kid stuck on second floor due to ic blocking the door) but a malfunction in the system forced another today.....outside doors cleared however 12 foot fence by tech room wouldn't open so students could only get 10 feet away from the building.....again, good thing it wasn't a REAL fire.....
the board has got to get their act together....oh yeah, good news at Bennett Middle, they cleared the lots so teachers have place to park.... :)
I am an office secretary at one of the elementary schhols (in town) and heard several calls over the county radios from drivers about the conditions. I even heard one driver call in about a girl that slopped on the ice and may have broken her arm trying to get on the bus (about 7:15 a.m.). My own kids are grown, but I am really upset about this. So far there has not been a serious problem with someone getting hurt, but I fear it is a matter of time. Then what will happen? Does anyone know who becomes liable if a student or staff member gets hurt? I just hope it doesn't happen - why is the school district taking cances with kids like this?
I am a former bus driver, having worked in Buffalo and I can tell you that I drove all of the time in lots of snow and ice. The problem wasn't the snow, it was the hills. From what I have seen, the bus drivers down here are for the most part pretty good, and there are even a few retired state troopers (like Phil Corbin who drives bus 86 for Prince Street) whom I would call expert. It isn't the busses that are a problem on this stuff - it is what they have to contend with. There are far too many kids that are just out of control, and there is NO WAY a driver can concentrate to drive under good conditions, let alone rotten ones with horribly behaved kids. Of course, the people that have raised these little monsters don't read this post (or just can't read). My hat is off to Phil Corbin and all of the other drivers who daily take on this task to get the kids of Wicomico County, along with every other county, to and from school in a safe manner.
