Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Press Release - Checkpoint



Incident: Sobriety Checkpoint
Date of Incident: 12 December 2009
Location: Eastern Shore Drive south of South Blvd., Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 12 December 2009 from 2200 – 0030 hrs, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Salisbury Police, Maryland State Police and the Maryland Natural Resources Police, conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint on Eastern Shore Drive. During the 2.5 hours the checkpoint was open, 151 vehicles travelled through it. Of the 151 vehicles that were encountered, one operator was discovered to be under the influence of alcohol.


Additionally, units patrolling the vicinity of the checkpoint also located an additional individual operating under the influence of alcohol along with two individuals driving without licenses, one individual driving while revoked and one Underage Possession of Alcohol.

Bernard Hinton, 48, Salisbury, MD
Charged With Driving While Revoked
Wagner F. DeOliveira, 28, Salisbury, MD
Charged With Driving Without a License
Jerrod T. Timmons, 31, Salisbury, MD
Barnardino Martinez Sanchez, 21, Salisbury, MD

meanwhile how many crimes have been commited that are still unsolved?
Oh yeah that's right they can't solve them cause that would mean the police have to get out of their cars and do some real police work!
what a joke! no matter how much they say it's about safety. it's really about making money, judges, lawyers, probation officers all got to be paid. those other criminals they would just cost the state money!

Stop 151 cars to find one drunk driver, talk about efficiency and use of resources! I guarantee if they approached 151 people walking the streets at this time of night on a Saturday in other areas of town they would've found more than 1 with drugs or a gun.
