President Barack Obama, in his first public comments on the attempted bombing of a U.S. airliner traveling from Amsterdam to Detroit, described the suspect as “an isolated extremist,” despite reports that the 23-year-old Nigerian had been trained in Yemen, a country he visited twice.
The Associated Press, quoting a Yemeni government official, said Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab lived in Yemen for two extended periods of time -- a year, from 2004-2005 and again from August-December this year. He apparently was in Yemen a few weeks before the attempt to blow Flight 253 out of the sky over Michigan.
A statement posted online Monday by Al-Qaeda in Yemen said its “manufacturing sector” had provided Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab with the explosives he took onboard the aircraft.
President Obama, in recounting what happened in the air over Michigan on Christmas day, used the word “allegedly” to describe the attempted bombing.

Secratary of homeland security said the system worked. What part exactly worked? I am glad on part that didn't work was the terrorist's detonator. If it had worked, we would be picking up the remains of 300 americans spread all over michigan and would be heading in another recession. I cannot pray for 2012 to get here quick enough. Can't we put Clinton back in and supply him with an endless line of call girls working their way through college. At least with him, he kinda knew what he was doing...

See the first part... those plotting against us. By isolated he means one guy on a plane. He acknowledges the connection to Al-Qaeda.
This guy will be mirandized and given a lawyer and will have his day in court. This is great we can try all of al quida in our civian court. You see obama, by giving them what they want it doesn't make them like us. It actually makes more of them, kinda like what you said GW bush was doing. As long as you think these are just a few muslim wingnuts that acting out, we will always be at risk. This is a larger movement than you will aknowledge and they must be crushed militarily.

Primarily, it is his remarks dealing with "Those plotting against us...". For crying out loud, they are at war with us!
Does he not recognize this, or is he unable to accept it? Plotting against us...rubbish. Pres. Obama is living in a pre 911 world and he is only increasing risk to our National security by his limp remarks and actions.
