Wicomico County H1N1 Clinic

Wicomico County Health Department to Hold Public H1N1 Vaccination Clinic for High-Risk Priority Groups

(Salisbury, MD
) The Wicomico County Health Department will hold a public walk-in H1N1 vaccination clinic for high-risk priority groups ONLY, on Wednesday November 4, 2009. The clinic will be held from 1:00pm until 8:00pm or until vaccine supply is exhausted. The walk-in clinic will be held at the Wicomico County Civic Center located at 500 Glen Avenue, Salisbury, MD. Appointments are not needed. Vaccinations will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The public should expect long lines.

The Wicomico County Health Department is strictly following sub-priority recommendations set forth by the Centers for Disease Control regarding vaccination prioritization. Individuals considered to be high risk include the following: pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care for infants under 6 months of age; children aged 6 months-to-4 years, and children and adolescents aged 5--18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications. Again, vaccine will be available only to the above sub-priority groups.

Additional clinics for individuals both within the priority groups and those NOT within the priority groups will continue to be scheduled as vaccine becomes available. Clinic dates and locations will be posted on the Health Department website at www.wicomicohealth.org.

For additional flu information, please call 211 the local H1N1 Resource Hotline.

I am currently fighting this flu. It attacks you fast. First with a bad sore throat, head cold, moving to your chest, and body aches. I am into my third day. I believe that I picked it up in the college library which was so hot with no air movement. You have to let things take their course. Besides gargling with warm salt water, another tried and true natural aid is apple cider vinegar. Gargle with it if you can stand it. If not, mix a couple of tablespoons in water. It burns like heck but you will notice an immediate difference. It is a natural anti-biotic.

My cousin got the H1N1 vaccine from her work and 2 days later she couldnt walk. They sent her to John Hopkins and they said it was from the H1N1 vaccine. She is now in Chesapeake Healthsouth for rehab. Be careful of this vaccine! It has not been tested good enough yet for me to take it.

10:37~The Laurel School District is having the health department come to the school to give the vaccine with the parent's consent. The school administrator is supposed to watch the kids for 15 minutes after the vaccine to catch any reactions. They have already been to Delmar. My worry is that there are so many parents uninvolved or non-enlgish speaking and that they just ok the permission slip without knowing any of the effects and that their kids are potential testing samples.

Its the flu people. If you are otherwise a healthy person, let your immune system work.

Kudos to the Wicomico Health Department. They are running a great clinic so far. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and efficient. We only waited in line for about half an hour. At 3:00 p.m., there wasn't any line at all when we came out.

A guy I work with who does not fall into any of the high risk catagories returned from the civic center having recieved the vaccine. They asked if he had any chidren under the age required. He resonded yes (his child is over 1 year), and no questions asked, he recieved the shot. Evidently they are'nt doing that good of a job, and hopefully the vaccine will not run out for people who really need it!
