Yes, went to see my Grandson at Beaver Run on Monday, teacher didn't even acknowledge I was there. Not even a Hi!/Bye!

What makes this week any different than any other week? Did I miss a memo or something? The only thing I seen promoted was to send a thank you note or some form of appreciation to teachers.

I went to visit my Grand'daughter at Pemberton Elementary. It was pure joy to see her face light up when I walked in the door. That what it is about letting the children know that you care and support them.
Today I am going to visit a little friend today at her school.

The teacher is probably making sure that the entrances/exits of parents are as non-disruptive as possible. It's hard enough to keep students focused and on-task without the constant interruptions of guests coming in and out.

Yes I did. I had a great time. :)

Did you go Joe?

Yes I did and enjoyed every moment of it. What made it even better was to see how proud my boy was that his daddy was there with him. God I love my babies!

No. My kids are past the age where they want me to come to school. Now when I show up at school it's because they are in trouble.

I used to visit the schools a lot when they were younger. Not just during American Education Week.

I use to when my Kids were in school, I never missed it. The ones that say they don't want you there, they really do it makes them feel important to you. I know because my kids friends have told me. If you haven't been this week, Go!

Yes, I was very well received by my kids and they are teens. They were proud to have the old man visit. I was disappointed that so much of teaching is poster board diplays, cereal box book reports, mobiles and similar craft. I realize that art and creativity play a part in education, but it seems lately to be weighted more in grading and in the classroom plan. How about teaching our kids to actually read and write. I have a straight 'A' student that until two years ago, was still challenged by drafting correspondence, and writing term papers. Thank goodness we sent her to a writing program these past few summers.

Go, visit your kids.. They actually want you involved...

11:29... That is not what the question was! Did you or did you not attend? GRUMP!!

Two down, one to go...so fun and rewarding to do!

I help out sometimes other times of year.

Hard when you work, but I try to be there for them. Today was good because I have the afternoon off anyway.

Yes, I really enjoyed it. My daughter is in Pre-K and I plan to visit her every year during American Education week until she gets too embarrassed to be visited at school by her mom.

Yes I did, and it was going well until my child's teacher started to flirt with me. It's sad that some women are never satified.

Went to see my little friend at her school and loved it. She was in Chorus and they were outstanding! I look forward to the Christmas Pagent.

3:51 Don't flatter yourself
2:26 Elementary kids get more reading, writing, and math than any thing else. Some days, it's more '3Rs' than everything else combined at the elementary level.
I would suspect a learning disability (nothing to be ashamed of, get the help that's needed!) or poor parenting for most kids not reading at least 'on level'.

Yes, I went.

3:51 maybe you should spend some time with that teacher. Maybe they will teach you how to spell

Yes, I went today with my daughter. It was a wonderful experience and the teachers were fabulous.

12:52 I saw Joe at Delmar Elementary this afternoon.

6:00PM, The time I spend with teachers is not spent on spelling!

yes-went to Willard's Elem. to have lunch and spend time in class with grandson. There were many, many parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles on hand. Great day.

Sure did. Boy, does JMB really need to go. It's a mess. I'm glad to see my old teachers Mr. Dittrich, Mrs. Fletcher, and Mr. Webster retiring. Now if they can get rid of Bock and Stevenson, things would be great.

Went to visit Grandson on Friday at Wi Middle School. Teacher informed us that in her twenty years of teaching, that this was, without a doubt, the worst class she has ever had. They were very disrespectful - talked, laughed, and slept when she specifically asked them to pay attention. She did inform us that our grandson was not included in the group described above, but the majority of the kids were just as she had stated. How anyone can learn anything in that class is beyond me. Three girls in the front of the room had no idea what the story was about because all they did was laugh and talk and they could not answer any questions when called upon. One boy was called on to answer a question and he was sound asleep. Had his head down on the desk most of the time. I actually felt sorry for the teacher. She has to go in there every day and hopes, I guess, that she can get through to those who are so disruptive. It certainly is an eye opener to go visit and see exactly what goes on in school these days. I know I'm from the old school but I'd take the old school any day compared to what I witnessed today.
