MARYLAND REPUBLICAN HEADQUARTERS — About fifty people gathered last night at Maryland Republican Headquarters for a meeting of the Anne Arundel County Central Committee. The meeting had a long agenda, which included brief interviews of the two candidates for Maryland Republican Chairman. However, what could have been a straight-forward stump speech by political veteran Audrey Scott turned into an attack against Daniel "The Whig Man" Vovak and his nominations for Maryland Republican Chairman. As Audrey Scott finished her speech, she mocked Vovak (falsely) claiming that he did not have any nominations for Dr. Pelura's seat for chairman.
Vovak explains, "Either Audrey Scott couldn't remember my name, which would be worrisome, or she was trying to belittle me in a disrespectful way at our State headquarters. I don't think this is the way forward for the Maryland Republican Party. Instead, we should welcome competition and newcomers with vigorous debate over issues."
Anne Arundel County Chairman Alan Rzepkowski openly (and respectfully) rebuked Audrey Scott, telling her to talk only about her own campaign. Then Rzepkowski allowed Vovak to give his five-minute stump speech. Vovak says two committeemen will nominate him, though he needs a third nomination. One includes Wicomico Chairman John Bartkovich, though Vovak is temporarily keeping the other name (from Baltimore) secret. Nominations must be received by the Nominations Chairman by Friday, November 13, 2009.
"If Bob Ehrlich can strategically delay his possible campaign for governor, then so can I," says Vovak. "Our Maryland Republican Party is facing serious financial difficulties and I wanted to carefully consider my rigorous duties as potential chairman before I entered the contest. If Audrey Scott really has this race 'locked up,' then it is a sad day for Maryland Republicans. Why even bother with an expensive convention if a chairman is going to be appointed; because otherwise the small votes of members of the committee don't matter to her."
A conservative Republican, Vovak has now sent the nomination form to the full committee. He is requesting a Republican on the committee to spend five minutes and fill out the form to allow an election (with a physical ballot) for Maryland chairman. "With this strategy, maybe I'll even get more than three nominations!" says Vovak.
One looming question remains: How could Audrey Scott know the status of Vovak's nomination?
Vovak has stated that Nominations Chairman Mark Uncapher should recuse himself because of his public endorsement of Audrey Scott. Further, Uncapher is violating two Republican bylaws. The first violation is Article VIII: Section 1, f-1-c, which states that the nominating committee cannot make "recommendations" for a future chairman. Vovak also says that as a Nominations Chairman, Uncapher is violating his Republican Oath of Office (Article XI: Section 2, d-2) by exercising "partiality" and "prejudice" towards Audrey Scott by endorsing her and promising to write her nomination letter. Vovak believes a Nominations Chairman should remain neutral.

The Republican Party in Maryland is becoming a bigger joke by the day.
Can Vovak embarass himself any more than he already has, by trying to spin and attack anything and anyone he can?
My guess, no...
He continues to be a devisive nut. He has no place in the party, that's why he hasn't even gotten 3 lousy nominators (Out of 264 possible nominators) so that he can become a nominee, despite having been in the race for over a month and a half and having delcared himself the first person in the race...
What does it say about John Bartkovich and the Wicomico County GOP that he is one of the supporters?
Audrey Scott is a nut herself. She was very erratic and thin skinned as Secretary of Planning. Neither of these individuals inspire much confidence as party chairman. I'd vote "none of the above."
Admittedly, I'm an out-of-state observer, but I fail to understand how demanding that rules be followed makes someone a "nut". As a resident of a red-state, I can truly say that the only way to get a solid GOP in Maryland is to bring in some new blood and try a new approach with new ideas. That appears to be what Daniel Vovak offers.

Pluto is a planet
OUTER SPACE – Daniel "The Wig Man" Vovak, 34, has flipped his wig over learning Pluto has been declassified as a planet. Vovak, who expects to become America's youngest U.S. Senator, was appalled by the recent decision by the narrow-brained International Astronomical Union. Vovak, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Maryland, has declared his first federal bill will be to eliminate funding for any group who believes Pluto should be declassified as a planet.
"An object with a moon is certainly a planet," said Vovak. "Does the International Astronomical Union believe a planet should only be recognized according to its size? Small planets should not be discriminated against because they chose to associate with objects of different shapes and colors. Plus, 424 arbitrary astronomers do not speak for 10,000. Any school child will tell you Pluto is a planet. I encourage all teachers to actively lobby their students to save Pluto from becoming a mere asteroid."
