THE FOUNDING FATHERS

When Conservatives bring up the United States Constitution and the inspired men who wrote it, those, on the left, will say those were different times and have no meaning today. I doubt they have studied what the Founding Fathers had to say and how their common sense, and brilliance, is eternal. No less a Democrat Icon than, John F. Kennedy, had this to say about Thomas Jefferson, a founding father that is hailed as a founder of the Democrat party.. In 1962 while welcoming 49 Nobel Prize winners to the White House, he said, - "I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent and of human knowledge that has ever been gathered in the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."

There are six others that are most noteworthy, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, John Jay, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton who have no equals in the history of this country. All they did was to establish a country, a banking system, establish a system of laws, and form a base for foreign policy. All of which are still part of our every day lives. These are only the seven most influential of the founding fathers. While there have been many other great Americans, none can claim accomplishments that rival these men.

A brilliant mind can not only adapt itself to any set of circumstances, but these men also were able to foresee what perils lie in the future. For 150 years subsequent Presidents and Congress' followed what they had laid out. The Country grew and prospered (with some bumps) then politicians started tinkering with the Supreme law of the land. As the saying goes, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I guess one can say some things worked out well, but when one looks at the debt run up since 1932, when the Roosevelt administration came into office, the debt was $19.5 Billion. The National debt is now$13.3 Trillion and rising. One might conclude that even when things work, we can't afford them. It can't be all Bush's fault and maybe the Founding Fathers were smarter than Liberals give them credit for.

On the contrary, the Founding Fathers are not the domain of conservatives.

Jefferson, Adams and Madison, especially, were invoked frequently by liberals and conservatives alike to bemoan the dismantling of our Constitution by George W. Bush.

Sadly, the writer of this post is too biased to recognize that admiration for the Constitution is not owned by any one party, ideology, or religion.

As for it being a different time and the Founding Fathers not being able to foresee everything, even they were wise enough to not portray themselves as all-knowing deities.

One of the best quotes to instill in your children:

A penny saved is a penny earned

I believe the article clearly states, Jefferson was the founder of the Democrat party. It also points to JFK as an icon of the Democrats. Both men would probably be reviled by today's liberals as being conservative.
It appears 10:46AM is yet another failure of our education system.

This is all nice and everything, but what point are you making here. The founding fathers dealt with many financial lows and highs. The creation and subsequest dissolving of the Bank of the United States which created financial sistress and even a war. For all of their greatness and foresight, I do not believe even the founding fathers could have guessed how much power their republic would wield an how much their ideas would be tested through time.

Jefferson, I think Patrick Henry made the point best when he said, The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government."
Whether it be Republican's or Democrat's that violate the supreme law of the land it is equally reprehensible. The fact that they don't seem to care, compounds the felony.
