I've been on Route 50 many times when one of these EAGLE trucks start to ride my ass. I kick it up to 65 mph...and they are still in my trunk.

A gasoline tanker fell on its side after running off the road.

I am so sorry the man died. His poor family.

For your information these trucks are regulated and the maximum speed is 65 mph. He had over a million miles of safe driving & was close to 2 million miles. He was a very kind person. My thoughts are with his wife & children...and also his coworkers.

DId he go over his hrs or was he maybe trying to swerve to miss a deer or something.. Man it looks like he was sleep and just drifted off the road. Youo don't get a million miles by making mistakes gang. Something went really wrong on this one. May his family and co-workers find peace and grace after this..WOW

It's so wonderful to see such kind words about this gentleman. I didn't think such people existed. What a breath of fresh air!

Anon: 5:15 I call B.S. on your govenor/regulated comment. I know that it is possible to govern these trucks and some companies have them on them. I've got Eagle trucks speeding at above 65 m.p.h. It may have not been this truck or that specific driver, but it was a Eagle truck.

5:10 is correct. The trucks were not able to go over 65 mph. I believe it was even lower to begin with; and it was very difficult to get up to speed in certain areas due to the terrain, especially when loaded. My husband used to drive for Eagle and said Tommy was a great driver and very nice. Tommy'd been a driver for Shore Stop when Eagle bought out the fuel delivery side.

Many trucks are governed, it's not uncommon for company trucks to be governed at 65. If you saw his grill in your rearview mirror, he wasn't as close as you think, although it sure seems that way.

I don't know of any driver that would swerve for a deer or any other animal. It's safer to hit the animal and tear up a fender or radiator and grill than it is to swerve and lay your rig down.

Only God knows what happened to this man. May he rest in peace.

All commercial rental trucks (Ryder, etc) are factory governed at or aorund 65

Have you ever thought to GET IN THE RIGHT LANE?

Gotta laugh at all these experts on here.

Trucks can be governed at whatever speed the owner desires.

And if you don't think it's better to avoid hitting something, you have never bought a radiator or grill.

It is my understanding there was a heavy rain squall passing through the area when wreck happened.

From what I saw at the seen. The truck drifted off the left edge of the pavement and traveled several hundred feet before rolling over and hitting the trees.

Northbound reopened around 1345.

The left lane was still closed for the accident investigation according to the VMS sign on eastbound US-50 in Hebron around 2130:

ACCIDENT US 13 S
PRIOR TO ALLEN RD.
LEFT LANE CLOSED

Sand Box John

Did he die as a result of the accident? Or did his death cause the accident?

A hood grille and radiator for these trucks will cost you over $10,000 not including the labor bill. But natural instinct will take over most times and do something the truck can do without turning over
