Important Rec & Parks Info

When & Where

7:30 PM

Wednesday

November 4, 2009

Flanders Room

Wicomico Youth & Civic Center

Current economic and fiscal constraints require

us to rethink and revisit our budget and tactics

in Recreation & Parks.

The process will begin when the Recreation

Commission meets with our stakeholders next

Wednesday. Those in attendance will be

briefed on the County's financial challenges

and hear an outline of County Executive Pollitt's

Recreation & Parks budget reductions being

considered by the County Council.

Involvement from our community stakeholders

is vital to the future of this Department, and we

encourage your participation in this process.

Ed Urban, Chairman

Wicomico Recreation Commission

Re: Editor's note...who is "everyone".??..I can assure you the intent is a very public forum and that no one intends to hide anything.

Just like GA said in Tuesday's cross-post here, the county wants you to know that they're cutting your favorite programs. Consider the current hoopla about crossing guards. Pollit and co. want to cut services so sharply that the public will reluctantly appeal the cap. Instead of spending money wisely and conservatively,a multi-million $$$ new library is discussed. Thanks as always GA for your thoughtful post. Signed, LLC (left-leaning centrist)

Or....maybe the Parks and Rec Chairman just wants the public involved in decisions.

Parks Recreation eh. They need to be cut. We have way too many parks.
One example is Nanticoke Roaring point. I've never seen more tha 6 autos or 8 people at that facility. But of course you have to drive past a Junk Yard to get to it. Discusting sight at the intersection of Wharf road and Redhill lane.

I know Parks & Rec are in a bad way right now. What I don't understand is that they have the use of FREE e-mail to get everything they are doing out to the Parks & Rec members. Maybe two months ago we got an e-mail about a meeting which was posted here on Joe's blog. A few days later we received another e-mail letting us know this meeting was postponed until further notice. Today the meeting notification comes in the snail mail. This wasn't FREE. If things are so bad why did they pay for this notification to go out? It cost Parks & Rec .28 cents TWICE to send it to me because they sent me two postcards. Why wasn't it sent via e-mail for FREE?

Isnt that why roaring point is so nice? It ain't crowded? And I'm sure that park costs very little to maintian since there ain't much there but 1/4 mile of trail and a beach...

Get your facts straight before you gripe you bitter douche.

Don't be confused it's not their money they are spending so they could care less about how much it cost.In regards to G A's post it looks as though Ed Urban will be singing backup to Rick's tune. One has to wonder if the people that own the company that Urban manages will be happy with a large property tax increase or would they be happy to know he is out advocating for tax increases

12:33 why did it only go to a select group who usually receive this info by email? Bet someone was hoping no one would send it to Joe to post. WRONG!

Ed Urban is the insulation for Mackes on this letter. Mackes has his "team" to insulate him from being the voice at Parks and Rec. I hope Rick is aware enough to realize what this is all about. Ed Urban can afford more taxes. He received the "mother load" several years ago.

4:02....show me once instance where Ed Urban has advocated higher taxes....your post is total BS.Try dealing with facts.

7:35...Urban is the chairman of the Rec Commission. He is there to represent county citizens in an oversight capacity.

As far as his "motherload"...it wasn't a gift...he EARNED it!
