Administration Of H1N1 Intranasal Vaccine Continues In Wicomico Schools

The Wicomico County School System and the Wicomico County Health Department are working together to offer the H1N1 intranasal vaccine to Wicomico elementary students. The administration of the vaccine started last week at Fruitland Primary School and Beaver Run Elementary, with a total of 258 students receiving the vaccine at the two schools.Clinics are scheduled this week for:Westside Intermediate, Monday afternoonPrince Street Elementary and Willards Elementary, Tuesday morningPemberton Elementary, Tuesday afternoonNorthwestern Elementary and West Salisbury Elementary, Wednesday morningWestside Primary is scheduled for Monday morning, Nov. 2.Dates for H1N1 intranasal vaccine clinics in other schools will soon be announced, as will several after-school clinics when parents/guardians may bring in older children to receive the H1N1 vaccination by injection. Consent forms for the H1N1 vaccine have already gone home to some elementary parents/guardians, and students whose parents sign and return the consent form will receive the vaccination free on the day that their school’s clinic is scheduled. Through the 2009 seasonal intranasal vaccination effort by the Wicomico County Health Department and Wicomico County Public Schools, more than 2,200 students K-5 were vaccinated against the seasonal flu between Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. As of last week, the Health Department had gotten a total of 1,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine, including the intranasal vaccine and the traditional injectable version. Priority is being given to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified target groups which include children, parents of children under 6 months old, pregnant women, medical and emergency first responders, and adults with underlying medical conditions. Dates for the school H1N1 vaccination clinics will be posted on the Wicomico County Health Department website at www.wicomicohealth.org, and on the Public Health Information Line, at 410-543-6943, as soon as the H1N1 vaccine arrives and clinic schedules are determined. Information on H1N1 news, prevention tips and clinics is posted at

I find it amusing that BHO kids aren’t getting the vaccine because they aren’t in a risk group and supply reasons. There seems to be plenty a vaccine going around here.

Once again the MSM and this administration shoving BS down our throats.

In effort to reduce wait times when calling the health department, individuals with questions about H1N1 are also encouraged to call 211 - this is a designated H1N1 Hotline.

You have got to be kidding me? 211 is this a joke. How many resources did it take to do this? Please be a joke.

No one should get free shots. Thats socialism plus the County can't afford it. People should take care of them selves and stop looking for a handout.

Perhaps BHO knows better than to give his kids the vaccine. ?

Just wondering

I myself as a parent am very concerned. I have a child that was hospitalized this year for kawasoki's disease. My husband and I discussed this in great lenghs, and feel that either way you go is not good, but if we had no choice, which we are seeing that we may not because of our little one, we want nothing but the shot which is not live. My arguement is you are going to give these children the nasal vaccine, which is live, and by the end of the day we could have a massive swine flu outbreak. We are damned if we do, and damned if we don't I am terrified for my little one that was sick and put in the hospital for a week with the very rare kawasoki's disease. I can't keep him in the house all winter until the risk is gone, and I can't keep my older children from going to school and such. They are saying there are not enough of the regular flu or this swine flu vaccines in the first place. Chances are, we will all have the swine flu before there is enough vaccines for everyone. What the hell are we all supposed to do? Screw Obama, push something on the rest of the world, that he won't even give his children!!

Call me paranoid but there were a few troubling events, namely the theft of live flu virus from some bio lab and the visit to Mexico by BOTH Obama and Clinton with no apparent reason--I DO NOT trust this administration OR the Drug companies.

Paranoid People of the Eastern Shore Unite! The mist was given yesterday...no outbreak of flu yet.
And you wonder why the rest of the state thinks we're backwards!?! Listen to yourselves!!!

There simply hasn't been enough research on this vaccine yet. Period.

8:10 Thanks for sharing your science-based judgment with us. You are a research scientist or physician, right? I'm sure you are, or you wouldn't be offering such a strong-minded opinion, as if you actually knew something other than what you heard from other like-minded lay-people.
