Recent events should convince even the most uncertain among us that Salisbury caught a break the Spring. A very big one.
The proposed relocation of the library and the proposed purchase of the former George L. Ralph property on Lake Street have shown beyond doubt that the best candidates won in both the District 2 and mayoral races. In each matter mentioned above the “3 stooges” majority on the City Council supported ludicrous proposals that now seem unlikely to survive thanks to the mayor’s veto power. Unfortunately for City residents, Comegys, Smith and Shields still control the Council, and their incompetence and arrogance will likely remain on regular display until the City election in 2011.
Imagine what we would surely be facing if Comegys were mayor and his supporter who ran in District 2 had been elected. Relocation of the library to a site that has been described as the “worst possible” by a knowledgeable resident. And purchase of a polluted property without first doing ordinary due diligence under the circumstances.
But, fortunately for us, Mayor Ireton’s veto of such actions cannot be overridden by the stooges alone, and in the matters metioned above it won’t be overridden. That reality will no doubt result in a predictable reaction by each of them. Ms. Shields will attempt by her buffoonish behavior to portray the mayor, Ms. Campbell and Ms. Cohen as racists – as she did during the last Council meeting. Comegys will resort to his standard boorish bluster and bombast, while Louise Smith will continue to glare at Ms. Campbell and Ms. Cohen and try to prevent them from speaking out at meetings by interruption and so forth.
As atrocious as that scenario is, there has been a significant change for the better at Council meetings: Barrie Tilghman is no longer there.

So maybe you all will cut Ireton a bit of a break? He is not perfect, he will make mistakes, but he is no Comegys! Imagine trying to work in an environment where virtually everyone maintains loyalty to the previous boss and you cannot fire them. It must be pretty difficult!
I look at this proposed site for the library and shake my head. What a shame that Mayor Ireton wasn't in office when they decided to build that 10 million dollar fire station across the street. Everyone knew the history of that area and yet the fire department officials still built on the site. I feel sorry for the firemen who are forced to work there and hope they never get ill. At least the Mayor put a stop to this nonsense before the stooges could make it happen. Thats why I voted for him. You have to wonder who would get a kickback from this land deal. We all know what happened with the fire department property and the L.L.C.
I thank my lucky stars that Debbie and Terry are my representatives. I think Ireton is being cautious-but there absolutely needs to be a purge of the corrupt and incompetent in city government, starting with Wilbur, Oland, Pick and Webster.
Shanie always screams racism when her puppet masters advise her to do so. What will Shanie be screaming when the people of the westside are forced from their homes by the votes cast by Shanie? What will the minority sector have to say when Shanie votes the gentry in and her constituents out of homes and jobs? Shanie owes to much to the gentry to vote against them so she votes against her constituents then turns it around and plays the race card. She is so obvious even Mary Ashanti sees through her game plan.
Shanie Shields is not voting in favor of the residents of District 1 or the residents and business owners of the west side. Shanie Shields is voting MINORITIES OUT, GENTRY IN. She is voting to serve those that hold her strings.

Better watch your back -- Louweasel is nasty when cornered!
It is common knowledge that Shanie Shields "is being taken care of" for her "co-operation".
haha... 3 stoogies... but honestly... ireton is gonna be shemp! he'll still have a role in the act.
As I am not sure of my residency status in Salisbury(I am a student at the University, and not originally from the city), I did not get a chance to vote in the mayoral election.
But if I had, I would have voted Ireton. I followed the debates closely, and realized Comegys is a fool, and that any sane person could see that.
No question! Ireton, for all his faults, is lightyears better than Comegys, who is a big harumph. He thinks because he's rubbed elbows across the bay he knows what he's doing. Sickening wannabe.
Debbie Campbell has cracked the door open for change. Terry Cohen pushed it open more.
I hope this means someday sanity will return. Salisbury wasn't always a laughing stock. I listen to the three dunderheads of the council and have to muffle my screams at the show of such low intelligence.
I still want to sell bubba, weasel and shields that nice looking dog. (with the foam around its mouth) Nice looking dog, not very friendly though. But I will give it to them for a cost of $5.00.
Think i'll bring him to the council meeting and let them have a look. Just like building a playgroound on contaminated soil we could let the children play with the nice dog. Just as stupid!
I agree Jim is doing a good job. I just got promoted to department head and you just can't walk in and cut off heads. You'll be working alone!
You have to get to know everyone better, give them a chance to prove themselves after being under such a cruel hand tying regime. Later, evaluate.
