Ben Cardin to Maryland – “You’re Just Uninformed”

Well, at least he didn’t call us UN-AMERICAN.  No, we’re just uninformed.  That was the message Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) delivered on WICO this morning as he prepares to discuss health care again – this time at a by invitation event with only pre-submitted, hand-picked questions allowed.

Fortunately for listeners, WICO host Bill Reddish politely stood up for the average citizen.  To listen to Cardin, all those opposed to ObamaCare are deliberately being fed “misinformation”.  Of course, everything coming from the mouths of ObamaCare proponents is 100% accurate.  Right Ben?

Don’t forget, Cardin will speak at Salisbury University at 10:30 AM.  Let him know what you think.

Yes, many of the folks shouting the loudest are uninformed. Thats because:

1) Pres. Obama has failed to talk specifics to the American people. While I'm an Obama supporter, this is one area he where he is not doing a good job.

2) Instead of reading the bill, people simply take whatever Rush, Hannity, or Palin say as truth, without any factchecking

3) and the white house has to get some of their facts straight too.

It would just be good to have a question an answer period with citizens looking to hear an objective accounting of the bill and its merits/shortcomings.

I just read the first sentence of the AP story referencing Cardin’s town hall meeting in Hagerstown and I can’t believe what he has said.

“U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin told an excitable, skeptical crowd in western Maryland on Wednesday that the federal government has a responsibility to provide affordable health care to all, and that duty need not add to the national debt.”

First of all, it is not the federal government’s responsibility to provide affordable health care to all, it is the federal government’s responsibility to provide an economic atmosphere so that all can afford health care. Notice I said health CARE not health insurance. Frankly, I don’t care about the insurance industry, but understand its necessity in catastrophic situations.

Secondly, Sen. Cardin must be a miracle worker if he thinks that giving everyone affordable health care under the current proposal is NOT going to add to the national debt. Is he and his fellow elected officials going to take pay cut and put it in the treasury so all of us can have “affordable” health care.

I stopped reading because after that opening statement it is obvious that the senator thinks we are imbeciles and he is not listening to us.

We lowly subjects of the messiah and his congressional rulers can never understand such complex matters as these. That's why we should be thankful for the pittance they provide to us.

I think Cardin is exactly right, so maybe he is listening to me! Just because he doesn't agree with you doesn't mean he isn't listening.

He doesn't care because we are in a state where Democrats can feel very secure. He knows that he will most likely be re-elected even if he votes for universal health care. So, he can dismiss all the protesters and still be comfortably re-elected. I think he is mistaken and the silent majority has been awakened in this country. The rest of the Democratic Party know that they control Congress and the White House. This is their great opportunity to ram socialized medicine through. If they do, I see a total backlash from those millions who have health insurance and are happy with it. Dismiss us if you want Senator Cardin, but we are ready to push back.

What's "un-American" is shouting people down, and "drowning-out" the opposition.

I wish you guys would stop twisting the Pelosi and Hoyer op-ed piece to suit your own needs.

Anyone who thinks it is possible to provide insurance for everyone in this country WITHOUT adding to the defecit or raising taxes is a moron. Come on people, really. This bill is a way for middle class taxpayers to foot the bill for illegals. It will use taxpayer money for abortions. It will ration care to the elderly. Read the bill.

How can it be unamerican to speak out? The libs are just mad that we are speaking out and asking questions instead of blindly following along like we did for the Pres Election. We 've had enough. The American citizans are being ganged up on by the media saying that we dont know what we are doing and we dont know what the right thing is to do and our politicians are saying the same thing. Its called brain washing. They beat into us every day everychance they get. I call for Term Limits NOW by getting every single on of them OUT! Have representations by citizens and not pro-politians, doctors and lawyers!

If you are screaming "libs" this, "libs" that, you are probably one of the uninformed screamers at these meetings. Idealogues like you on the left and right and driving this debate into the mud. The point is that town halls are for "speaking out and asking questions" as well as LISTENING. Not disrupting the entire flow of information with your angry rants.

OK Ben inform us. Read the bill, not a summary, thinks and study the words not the perception you have. Know the bill and then inform us.

Many of those who are against universal health care are already on it - Medicare. Those who are against it are screaming that under the new plan, there won't be much choice, etc. There isn't now. Don't those of us who have medical insurance have to go to a primary physician who accepts our insurance? Don't certain procedures have to be approved? And...what if you lose your job? There goes the insurance with it! Start educating yourself instead of following what people say blindly! We must all look at every side of an issue.

Yes 1:12pm, and Medicare is going broke. Social Security is going broke. The Post Office is going broke. What happens when the national health care goes broke? The working middle class will pay the taxes to bail it out.
