Down the Mississippi: Barack Obama Effect Ends White Rule In Deep South Town
Tommie 'Tomaso' Brown: 'Obama was a major influence on everybody...he inspired me.'
A tiny Mississippi delta town has elected its first black mayor after the white incumbent, unopposed for 30 years, faced a young challenger inspired by President Barack Obama's feat in winning the White House.
’Kiss my black ass, because we got a black mayor’

The worst has yet to come!
That town will be going down the crapper, just like the country.
Can someone tell me where the story is in this article? Does not sound to me like the white boys network did much good to help the town.
can you say "sierre leone"
Congratulations to the "new" Honorable Mayor Tommie Brown. Godspeed.
Yeah, let's see how they manage.
This will end up looking like South Africa, or does it already?
Dilapidated, and ruined I guess, Good ole mississipi. where more lynchings than the holocaust has taken place. "Kiss my BLACK ass, Because THEY got a black mayor", The bible even says those that are last, shall be first Lol. Damn you whites don't like to share Lol.
Isn't the new mayor the cousin of the honorable bishop doctor reverend apostle Leon T. Lovebone, pastor of The Church of the Weeping Mother Mary Apostolic and Most Holy Redeemer Perpetual Resurrection and Repenting AME congregation?
Were in trouble!!! White America better get a grip!
Well, lets look at all the African American, or Black run Cities and see what kind of shape they are in.
When will this really be realized, dumb and dumber...
Yes racial, but truth hurts doesnt it
If you follow the link, the man was inspired to run because Obama won and won by 10 votes-but the mayor since 1979 has always been unopposed-so this is a non story-he didn't overcome, go against the man or anything, he just ran in a town that is 75% black and could have lost if his family didn't vote. Hysterical if it wasn't true.
If you look real close i would swear that is New Port Circle right here in good ole Salisbury. People drinking smoking weed, and voodoo music. Wow this really brings back some memories. Gramma cooking up some rock. babys' daddy half sisters cousin on the babys mother's side sellings food stamps for fifty on the dolla. Hmmmmmmmm you just cant buy that kind of memory. Oh and time niecy had those twins. We use to kid her that if she failed again her and the children would be going Salisbury Middle School at the same time.
Ohbamanation of Humanatation
Maybe he will do a good job.
Boy, there are some angry white folks out there (snirker)
11:24am, follow the link, read the story, the white people aren't angry, it's the black kids from the neighborhood being angry and disrespectful to the loser-a small business owner in a town of 200 and the one who ran unopposed for 30 years. They are in a state of denial, not once in 30 years did they stand up and run-why because Obama wasn't president yet? That makes them at fault if they don't like their current situation. I wish the new mayor good luck but he picked a bad time to try and get money from the state or federal gov't-they money train is about to run out. That's what he hopes,is to get a better life for his community from the gov't.
2:57 talking about the comments up here. I read the story, you read the prior post.
As far as the kids go; they are kids in a small town. I'm sure things have changed since I was a kid, but in my day, small town meant you got your butt wooped at the store then sent home for another woopin by your parents.
A 31 year old mother of TEN?????What do they put in the water in Alligator?
I think the Italian dude(Sbravati) should run for Mayor, after all it was Italians who built the town.
And maybe this town is dying because no one is willing to invest their money in such squalor.
Ha,the verify word here is "equal".
