House Republicans on Wednesday unveiled a $700 billion health care plan that would offer tax credits to help people buy insurance, yet unlike Democratic proposals, wouldn't require either individuals or employers to get coverage.
Some of the ideas in the plan appeal to moderate Democrats, but with Republicans out of power, there's little likelihood their proposal will be enacted. Nonetheless, it will give GOP lawmakers under fire for their opposition to President Obama's plan something positive to point to when they go home for the congressional August break.
"We are introducing this bill because we support health care reform, but in way that empowers patients," said Brendan Buck, a spokesman for the House Republican Study Committee. "While the president continues to insist there is appetite for the status quo in Congress, it's not coming from Republicans."

Why did those idiots (Republicans) wait until the Fat Lany was singing to propose their plan?

Why did McCain choose Palin as a running mate?
Then again, why did the Republicans tolerate Dubya for a second term when they already knew he was destroying our country?
Because the political process has been hijacked. It is a drama. It is an orchestration. A play. A game. The politicians are actors and many of them literally read from scripts (teleprompters) to get it just right. The speeches are all written behind the scenes, the legislation is all written behind the scenes, 1000's of pages.
We have been duped. I for one feel like such a dupe.
some potentially good ideas, lets see some specifics. Same goes for the President's plan.
Good ideas but why even bother? They don't have the votes.
If they are going to give away money anyway (C.A.R.S.) then why NOT tax credits to offset the costs that working people incur to retain private insurance?
