Local Man Needs Your Blood

As some may have already heard, there was a severe accident Saturday in Bishopville. One of the victims of this accident, William Bruce Somers, is currently in critical condition at PRMC and is in desperate need of blood.

Apparently, they will cut a patient off at a certain amount of units of blood and he is coming close to that point. If you are able to donate blood, please donate on behalf of William Bruce Somers, the family would be eternally grateful.

Thank you for your help!

Blood type needed?

Blood type doesn't matter, just as long as you donate in his name. Your blood most likely will not go directly to him, but it will allow for more units to go his way.

I don't think its for him personally but for the replenishment of the blood bank itself? I tried to give but I've gotten a tattoo in the last yr and am not allowed too. I gave just before I got it done though. I try to give at least twice yrly.

Just a question? If you smoke pot,(a lot) would they still want your blood?

Please get as many people as you can to donate. Just call the local blood (Salisbury is 410-749-4161) and give his name and say he is located at PRMC. This is a very deserving man and his family would greatly appreciate it! My thoughts and prayers are with Bruce, Tanna, Stephanie and the rest of the family.

Can't you donate to him if you are a member of the blood bank? How does that work? We give blood throughout the year.

Type o is a universal donor!!!

Can you give a monetary dontation instead to help? I am pregnant and can't give blood right now but would hate to see that this man didn't get all he needed.

What's the rules on donating if you have tatoos. I got my last one well over 10 years ago. Can someone advise? I'm gonna go donate but I'd like to know beforehand. Thank you.

You can donate after a year.

For five bucks a year he and his entire family could have joined the blood bank. What did he spend his five on?

Tattoo's only matter if it's within the last year.

You have to wait one year to donate blood after receiving a tattoo or piercing.

to the person who posted about paying $5/yr and joining the blood bank - i personally (thank God) ahve never needed blood, and because of a medical condition can't donate. so i know nothing about this. would it be possible (without the nasty sarcasm) to educate us about how this works? thank you.

Most of Bruce's family are already members of the blood bank. Thanks to all who have already scheduled to donate. We are very thankful.

to 6:05....what a rude thing to say. There are some reasons people cannot donate blood. In a situation like this you should be ashamed to even bring such a thing like that up. Majority of the family are blood bank members. Whether he is or isn't a blood bank member, he still needs blood. A man's life is on the line and to say such a rude thing really shows what kind of person you are.

Many people (myself included) had no clue about donating $5 a year to become blood bank members, instead of snippy, snide comments maybe an educational post would have been a little more appropriate.
Today my 17 y/o scheduled her first appt ever to donate blood, it was encouraging to hear that the first available appt wasn't until next Tuesday at 1:40pm.
Can the family give an update as to how William is doing ?

Bruce is still in critical condition, but each day he makes a little more progress. He has a long road ahead of him, but he is a strong man. His family has never left his side & we are praying every day for him. He is loved by many & we all appreciate the support.
