Daily Times Realizes That Crime In Salisbury Is Not "Down"

Now that Barrie Tilghman is no longer mayor and Gary Comegys lost in the election to replace her, the editors are bemoaning the crime rate in Salisbury. No mention, of course, that Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen have tried to address the problem by expanding the police force, and Comegys and his cohorts on the Council have blocked that effort. Recall Shanie Shields comments about how there was no crime problem here, not to mention the Chiefy's attack on Jim Ireton when he raised it during the recent election campaign. Back then, the Daily Times took a much different view. Go figure.

I would like to hear some of the sound bites again from Shields, Smith and Comegys regarding crime and funding for police. THere's nothing quite like hearing it right from their mouths.

I guess now that Jim is mayor they can't print city negitivity now.

No, 9:07, we are happy that they are FINALLY reporting what everyone here has known for a long time. Crime is a serious problem here in Salisbury. It has been even before the economy went south. Lets face it, the people commiting all these robberies and murders aren't people who lost jobs or can't find one. They are just plain thugs who would rather prey on other people. It is just about time the Daily Times took their head out of the sand.

Joe:

Have you read in the Opinion section the letter from Mark Thompson "Salisbury's achievements worth sharing with others"? What a stupid, stupid fool Mark Thompson has made himself out to be by writing a letter like that.

"Our accomplishments have been speard across this nation",

"We are able to show how we place value in our youth",

"Although we did not rank amoung the Top 10 - this time",

And finally, "Salisbury has much to be proud of":

Mr. Thompson, you have got to be kidding??? Murder, rape, armed robbery, gangs, a intrastructure that is falling apart, schools and education being ignored, elected officials who wear blinders and don't know the difference between their ass and a whole in the ground.

It is people like Mr. Thompson who wear blinders to the real state of the City of Salisbury that have caused the problems this city is currently experiencing. An he has the ignorance to write a letter like that.

Mr. Thompson, you stupid, stupid, fool.

Mr. Thompson and the Daily Times deserve each other -- like Tweedledee and Tweedledumb.

I love how everyone blames the economy for increased violent crime.Do you honestly think any of these thugs has ever held a paying job?Or ever will for that matter?

The FBI numbers are from 2007 because of the way the reporting times work. The economy was fine then, yet crime in the Bury was through the roof. No more excuses...get busy fighting crime and make Salisbury a safe place to live and work again.

Did anyone else read the editorial by Susan Parker in todays DT? She seems to think that citizens are overreacting and that we just "think" crime is worse.I suggest if she really feels that way she should take a walk after dark down Church St or Priscilla St with her purse hanging off her shoulder..Talk about managed news.
